Many of us have heard this expression before. We do all the planning in the world for an expected outcome, and then something happens. It caught us blind - unaware. But it was not unexpected by God. The past, present and future are all visible to Him, all the time.

Sunday the Vikings went into Lambeau Field to do battle with the Packers. No Aaron Rogers this year. Aaron got traded to the Jets, and then in the first game Rogers went down during the first series with a torn Achillies Tendon. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins was having the season he had been waiting for. Even without Justin Jefferson, Kirk still had enough tools to put up some respectable numbers. He was having a field day against the Packers, victory was in sight, and next week we had a very weak team to play. Life was good. And then it happened.

Kirk is a good man. A family man. A man of God. And then for no reason, he suffered a non-contact injury. Just like Aaron Rogers, he tore his Achillies Tendon. Because Kirk is a man of strong faith, he knows what happened was not by accident. It was all part of God's design. Do we understand God's design? Rarely to never. But then again, we don't need to. 

Will this be the end of Kirk Cousins football career? Maybe. A torn Achillies is serious stuff. Kirk's season is absolutely over. After the season, a long rehab period. Will life go on for Kirk Cousins either way? Play football or life after football? For sure.

Every player who suits up knows the game they are playing could be their last. It is the nature of the beast. One of the reason some players pray before every game, sometimes with members of the opposite team, is for God's blessings and protection. Each player is hopeful that at the end of the game, they can walk off the field. 

I will now confess something that I have not done before on this blog. I like Kirk Cousins. Always have. I have said when he has the protection, he is deadly accurate. He allowed Justin Jefferson to look as good as he did during Justin's rookie year. He was already starting to make Jordan Addison look spectacular. But now we have half the season left, to make it work without our star quarterback.
