"Well, it took long enough - but the smoking gun has finally shown itself..."
Watching the news last night, I did not know if I was watching Fox News or "Beavis and Butthead". While discussing the now famous Ben Rhoads memo, the Fox host, Bret Baier had on as a guest some young man who looked as if he had the day off from middle school.
This young man, who is the former NSC Spokesman named Tommy Vietor, was asked about the memo, and if it added to the validity of a major White House cover up.
The response to Baier's question will live in infamy. It put an exclamation mark on the sentence "we need to get the adults back in charge". This young upstart, when asked by Bret Baier, "Did you change 'attacks' to 'demonstrations' in the talking points?", responded by saying, "Maybe, I don't remember...Dude, this was two years ago!"
"Dude"? Really? I thought that term was passé, even for today's hipster youth. It brought back memories of when President Bush won his first term election. All of the hip youngsters which worked in the Clinton White House removed the "W" key off of the typewriters. Very funny, "dude".
Back to the smoking gun. This memo corroborates what many of us have known for months - this Benghazi thing was a screw up of major proportions. It was a cover up as the events on the ground did not fit well with the rhetoric coming from the Rose Garden. As in the case of Watergate, it will be the cover up that will do more damage than the event itself. Thanks to the "dude", as well as his friends in the Administration, there is now fresh "blood in the water".
There will be more. The bloodhounds continue to look for more smoking guns in the IRS, NSA, Fast and Furious, and yes Benghazi scandals.
There once was store in the Twin Cities whose motto was "All roads lead to Coles". President Harry Truman would often say, "The buck stops here." It seems that all roads, and all bucks relating this cover up are going to come to rest at the same address - 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
