As the noose tightens

Don't get too excited yet friends, but this might just be a moment we have all been waiting for. I know, I know - she is rich and powerful. And running for President. So how in the world could justice find this woman anyhow? Is she exempt? Do we have equal justice under the law, or are those just flowery words? I think we will soon find out.

Our usual "do nothing" Justice Department has actually done something recently worth merit. The have offered the young Democrat operative who set up Hillary Clinton's email server immunity from prosecution. As we would say in the Navy many years ago - this is a big hairy deal. It is thought by many (including me) that this young Democrat holds the keys to the kingdom. And with immunity, he is going to use those keys to unlock many doors.

It might be good to go back and review the facts. In the government, there is a secure server which handles all classified system. It is a closed system. In other words, it is impossible to get information off of that server and onto an unsecured server. That is, unless documents are printed from the secured server and then scanned or keyed into the unsecured server. 

Hillary's server was found to have over 50,000 emails on it. Of those emails, somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 were classified. And of those classified emails, 22 were top secret. And of those 22 top secret emails, a handful were so highly classified, even redacted versions could not be shown to the Congressional group investigating Hillary. Is this a problem? As we say in Minnesota, "you flipping betcha!"

What happens next is going to be very illustrative to watch. It will really be a make or break moment for our country. First off, there is very little to zero chance that Hillary is not guilty in some way, either by commission or omission. From having a high level clearance myself at one time, I know the penalties for misuse or abuse. Next, if she is guilty and nothing happens, then our system of blind justice is a sham. We will have no equal justice under the law. We will end up having two sets of books - one for the well healed and connected, and the other for the rest of us.

My hope against hope is that our system of justice will work in this country. At the very least (and I VERY least), Hillary should never, ever be allowed within 100 feet of any classified information again. Period! And if you can't have access to classified information, you can't sit in the big chair.  But she deserves so much more than that. She really does need to do the perp walk. And by the way, I would say the same for a Republican. Those who know me, know that that is true. 

What happens next? Joe Biden? Al Gore? Elizabeth Warren? One of the usual suspects will have to hop in. I don't think the powers that be will allow "The Bern" to get the nomination. Should be interesting to buy some popcorn, sit back and watch.
