"Can we show them the peace that passes all understanding? The unbridled joy of knowing Jesus? The agape love we have received from our Savior?"
Silly question. Of course they will. How do I know? The Holy Bible says so in Romans 14:11, Philippians 2:10 and Isaiah 45:23. "Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord". And how do we know the Holy Bible is correct? Because the Holy Bible also says in 2 Timothy 3:16, "All scripture is God breathed..."
Some might be thinking right now, "Okay Bird, I know that. Plus I went to church this morning. What are you getting at?" It has to do with yesterday. The protests against Sharia Law in our country. I thought about that deeply. As I was out picking a whole bunch of leaves and sticks from the storms this morning, I was thinking about how we should act as Christians towards the Muslim newcomers to our country. Then a thought hit me out of the blue.
And this is where is get tough. Those who are squeamish might want to turn the channel. Is it possible, in God's grand plan, he sent these people here for a reason? For years, we have sent missionaries into harm's way into many Muslim countries to spread the word of Jesus. One missionary up against tens of thousands (maybe many more) people who have never heard the Word. And it was life threatening in many of these countries.
Now they are coming here. What have we done since Muslim refugees and immigrants have come here from their countries? Instead of taking this opportunity to practice what Matthew 28: 16-20 (the Great Commission) has commanded us, we instead are putting COEXIST bumper stickers on our cars. That is the "whatever" approach. And why should we care if they hear the Word of God or not? Because in Matthew 22: 36-40, we are taught to love others as we love ourselves. We want them to be saved.
Now comes the real hard and icky part of this post. What am we supposed to do? Do we have the guts to talk to people outside our faith about the love of Jesus? Or do we say "Whatever - religion is like ice cream. They like strawberry, and we like peppermint. It is all a matter of choice," And with that, a COEXIST bumper sticker is slapped on the back bumper. That will be a tough one to explain to God when his wishes were so clearly spelled out.
So the question I am left pondering is simply this (and it is NOT that every knee really bow) - if this is part of God's plan, to have these people come here so this majority Christian nation, a nation who has the opportunity to tell the story of God's love, will we? Can we show them the peace that passes all understanding from knowing Jesus? The unbridled joy that can be had from knowing Jesus? The agape love we have received from our Savior?
That is the question I am left with today? Is this an invasion of Muslims into our country, or an opportunity to add to the population of Heaven? This is what happens when I am on my John Deere cutting grass. I think deep thoughts about very important matters. As this thought - is of utmost importance.
Hello Dave? Any comment on this one?
ReplyDeleteJust confusion on my part.
ReplyDeleteGovt. tolerance towards all religions.
Separation of church and state.
Israeli courts recognize, Christian, Jewish and Sharia laws. Christian proselytizing.
I lost my faith when my eldest son died so I really don't have any skin in the game, but I don't think your God is giving you this opportunity to fill heaven with converts. Time better spent on those around you who profess belief in God, but really don't follow precepts.
Thanks for asking, Dave G
ps while you were cleaning up downed leaves, I was arranging insurance inspections for car, trailer and boat.
