Going forward - "The better angels of our nature"...

"Ladies and gentlemen, America is back. Will we make some mistakes going forward? Probably - but if we keep listening to the better angels of our nature, we can overcome those mistakes. This is our chance, maybe our last chance, to get it right."

It sure has been a bumpy ride. Actually, ever since 9/11. G.W. Bush had barely been sworn in, when he was asked to be a war time president. Poof - there went all his agenda ideas. Bush was going to be a uniter - heal the opening chasm that happened during the playboy days of Bill Clinton. And then the world changed with 9/11.

GW's dad had the idea of America becoming a "thousand points of light", but again, disruptions in our peaceful nature were introduced by Saddam Hussien. All of a sudden, George Bush Sr. needed to become a war president. So much for the "thousand points of light". But - it allowed America to be the world's policeman once again. The first Gulf War showed the world how America could roar should she need to.

We all know what has happened since all of that. We next had Obama, who tried to dice and splice us into a thousand different tribes. Then we had the totally unexpected Trump victory over Hillary, which led to a massive s**t fit by the losing side. Then four years later, we had the "mysterious election", which gave us old man Biden. What was Biden good at? The same thing that Obama was good at. America, bad - everyone else good. And war? We are still at the precipice of World War III. Right before the November election last week, many of us felt as if we were at the bottom of the barrel. 

Now, for the first time in decades, America has the chance to really show the world (as Lincoln said), "the better angels of our nature". Donald Trump, barely surviving an assassination attempt, has won the November election in a landslide victory. Many think Trump is a changed man since that bullet almost ended his life. That being said, Trump wants a strong America, but not a bully for a country. He abhors war but loves justice. His world view is for all people, worldwide, to do better. But with that, he still wants to put America first. 

Retribution, recrimination, revenge, retaliation - these are all words from the past. Our better angels tell us there is a better way. Putting Elon Musk in the mix was stroke of genius on the part of Donald Trump. We are entering a time of great change and massive technology breakthroughs. Who would be better to guide our president, to guide our country, than the greatest innovator alive. Technolgy for the greater good, and not to be used for evil or truculent purposes, could lift us all to new heights. As Reagan said, "A rising tide lifts all boats" - and a rising tide (through technology) is coming.

Ladies and gentlemen, America is back. Will we make some mistakes going forward? Probably - but if we keep listening to the better angels of our nature, we can overcome those mistakes. This is our chance, maybe our last chance, to get it right. I don't know about anyone else, but this time, I think we will get it right. With the help of our better angels of our nature, we will get it right. 

 

What is a vet, and why is a vet?

"Would I do it all over again? In a heartbeat. Why? It was a once in a lifetime opportunity. To serve this great nation, which I love so dearly, was an honor and a privilege."

Some of my classmates I have run into over the years, who never served, have the same thing to say. "I wish I had gone in. I feel like I really missed something." However, people that I know who are veterans, most have this to say - "I would do it all over again." That being said, every now and again, this entire veteran thing gives me pause to think. What is a vet? And why are there veterans?

To me, it all starts with why someone goes in the service to start with. When vets get together to tell "sea stories" and such, many times their origin is brought up. Some go in because their dad served during World War II, and they wanted to have that same honor of serving. Some enlisted to escape the draft during Viet Nam. Some went in because they were drafted. And after Viet Nam and the draft had ended, some went in the all-volunteer service. 

Regardless of what a veteran did in the service, be it combat or support, it all counts. Many veterans went in to do one thing, and circumstances took he or she down a different road. I am one of those. When I enlisted in the Navy in 1968, I wanted to be on an aircraft carrier. I did not care what type of job I had, I just wanted to serve on a carrier. But because of how I scored on a certain test in boot camp, I was selected to go to a school they would not tell me the name of, and study to be something they also would not tell what it was. That started my journey to be a career cryptologist. 

Veterans are a different bunch of people. It does not matter which service they were in; it does not matter if they were combat or support, and it does not matter what their MOS was. Veterans are drawn to each other like bees to honey. There is a bond which exists, which cannot be broken. I have told many who are serving, as good as it feels to serve, it also feels very good to be called a veteran.

Was every day I served a 4.0 day? Absolutely not. But many were. And most were above average. The hard days, I endured. The good days, I relished. Would I do it all over again? In a heartbeat. Why? It was a once in a lifetime opportunity. To serve this great nation, which I love so dearly, was an honor and a privilege. And that is what I should tell people when they thank me for my service. After "you are welcome", I should say the honor was all mine. And it was.

   

The tent just got a bit bigger

 

"Historians will write volumes about this man. He is an enigma. A one-of-a-kind leader. He is the comeback kid as well as the torch bearer for all who long for the goodness of America."

The American tent just got a bit bigger. Who is invited to come into this tent? Just about anybody - however there is one caveat. You must love America and what she stands for. Last Tuesday, millions of Americans made that statement. We love this country, we love the freedoms and liberty, and we are done with crazy town. How big of a change was this? It was a landslide victory, with the "blue wall" turning red, and New Jersey and Minnesota now becoming "swing states".

Last night Arizona finally finished their vote counting. And they (like the others) flipped red this election. The fun part is over for this election. I know, I know - it was also a lot of work for a lot of people. But there was joy in the rallies. The chants of "USA, USA" resonated in many large cities and small towns. Donald Trump has gone from a pariah to a hometown hero to many of us. His energy was inexhaustible. He was the Energizer Bunny on steroids. Now the hard work begins. Putting a team together which will right the ship. Get us back on course. Bring some peace to this troubled world.

Donald Trump's cabinet will be different this time around. Last time, Trump made some hasty (and unfortunate) picks for important positions. He has learned from that. This time, his bench to choose from is deep and wide. He will have some high-quality people who are also true believers at this side. And this time, when Donald Trump states we need to clean out the Deep State, people will not look at him like he is talking about the boogie man. This time, many have seen the Deep State in action, and know it is a cancer in our system which needs to be removed. 

Is there a new sheriff in town? There sure will be in January. This country knows it and the world knows it. How serious will other countries take Trump? One quick phone call to the president of Mexico about stopping the latest army of illegals making their way to the border. One call, and Mexico broke them up. Stopping them. I said this the last time Trump won. His strength is he is predictably unpredictable. Just like Reagan was. Trump loves peace, but if he needs to take swift and powerful action to keep America and Americans safe, then action it will be.

Historians will write volumes about this man. He is an enigma. A one-of-a-kind leader. He is the comeback kid as well as the torch bearer for all who long for the goodness of America. Will he make mistakes this time around? Probably - he is human. But with a friendly Senate and an evenly divided House, he will be able to take the country down the right path quicker and cleaner than before. 

Am I excited to see how POTUS 47 will fix this great country? That is a YUGE yes with an AMEN behind it!   

Out of step - again

 

"Those who desire to see what a dinosaur looks like, need not go to Jurassic Park. A much better way to see a dinosaur is to visit one of our blue states and meet their governors. But you better look fast, as their time is just about up. Their spell has been broken and the jig is up. Donald Trump is bringing back boatloads of common-sense solutions. This is our new reality."   

They just don't get it, do they? Yesterday the recalcitrant governors of a few blue and clueless states got up and shook their fists in defiance. One even said, "We will fight Trump to the death, if he tries to impose common sense solutions (my words) on my state!" Listen up people - time to go smell the coffee. Donald Trump won not just an election, but a mandate. 312 electoral votes, as well as the popular vote. He took the Senate and held the House. Why did all this happen? People wanted CHANGE, and they wanted it now!

Even Timmy Walz, the weeping Command Master Sargent, got up and made his threats to the incoming POTUS. Excuse me Governor Walz - a bit of reality here. Minnesota came within less than 5% of turning red this past election. What does that mean? Half your state wanted change. And by territory, about 95% of your state is red. Don't get too cocky sir - that dog doesn't hunt anymore. Your brand of pablum does not work on us. Those days are OVER.

One of the loudest voices from this group of misfit governors came from Phil Murphy of New Jersey. Of all of them, he should be the most cautious about the words he uses. Why? During the last midterms, when he was up for re-election, it was a real nail biter. Many thought this tyrant would finally fall. But he won, only by 3.2%. Again, what does this mean? Half his state is red. Just like with Walz, Murphy's brand of pablum is over and done with. Progressives and liberals are about to go the way of the Dodo Bird.

By the way, even though Gavin Newsom has told the world he does not give a wit about the outcome of the last election, and he is keeping his EV mandate. He too, will fight Trump tooth and nail should Trump try and overrule this pile of nonsense. However (and this is very delicious), Toyota has informed California there is no way on this planet they will or would be ready to meet the stupid mandate set by California. Bottom line? They might just bow out of the California market. Sucks being a citizen of California. This is just another nail in Newsom's political coffin, should he decide to make a run for the roses in 2028.

Aftermath

 

"Here is the thing about riding with Team Trump. This is not an exclusive club except for one thing. You must love the America our founders loved. We don't care what color you are. What race you are. If you have a job where you shower in the morning, or shower when you get home. We don't care if you are a man or woman (just not both)."

Poor Tim Walz. He was a mess during Kamala's concession speech. Got pretty emotional for a Command Master Sargent. But wait - is it not the picking of Tim Walz as Kamala's Veep which is getting some of the blame for the defeat? I mean, the blame game is in full swing right now. Everybody, save Santa Clause, is getting some share of the blame. Who do I blame? All I can say to each, and every Democrat is this - look in the mirror. The Kamala Harris defeat was no more than a cacophony of missteps, unforced errors, and a very crappy track record.

Okay - forget Taxing Timmy. How are the rest of the DFL minions taking this horrible loss? I mean, the word was "Hitler" was it not? And "garbage" for those who followed him? Now this group of reprobates, this pile of sexist neanderthals will soon be running the joint. Not only running the White House, but also the Senate. And (stay tuned) - they might also be running the House for the next two years. What can we do? How can we protest his injustice?

I know! Let's all cut off our hair! I mean only the women. I hear tales of women cutting off their hair, swearing off men (some don't need to), and others going on "sex strikes" (again, some don't need to). Some professors at Ivy League schools are giving students "safe spaces" and allowing them to skip school to heal. They are being told to be good to each other and give each other lots of hugs. Now I do have to go vomit for a bit.

Here is the long and the short of it. We are the United States of America. We have a republic and a constitution. Many of the citizens and patriots who live here have had enough of woke, new pronouns, men trying to be women and visa versa - period. Full stop. The progressives took this country to the edge of sanity, and the people had enough. Did they go out and burn the town down? Nope - they went to the ballot box. They won the election fair and square. Now it is time to get back to sanity and leave crazy town.

Here is the thing about riding with Team Trump. This is not an exclusive club except for one thing. You must love the America our founders loved. We don't care what color you are. What race you are. If you have a job where you shower in the morning, or shower when you get home. We don't care if you are a man or woman (just not both). Love our country, love liberty, love each other - and you are in. Not only in, but very welcomed.

What about the aftermath? This too shall pass. We can keep the light on, the welcome mat out for the other side. But what if they don't take our hand? What if they don't want to reconcile? If the hate within them festers and the country suffers because of it? Then we will have a big problem going into 2026. 

  

What has been done, can and will be undone...

"Now it is time to turn the page on the last four years. Bear no lasting grudges but keep your memory sharp on how America really went off the tracks for a while. DEI, New Green Deal, social engineering - now are in our past. Just like reconstruction after our Civil War, Trump will reconstruct his country. He will reconstruct our national unity." 

The nation has now had a full day to let the results of the election sink in. No riots in the streets (yet), no gnashing of teeth, no screaming at the Moon. I think even the most ardent liberal might think this pendulum had swung too far to the crazy. Now it is time to start acting like normal Americans again. A man is a man, and a woman is a woman. Internal combustion engines are not evil. Being an American citizen means you are a legal citizen of this country. It goes on and on from there.

Because of a seething hatred for his predecessor as well as a devotion to the crazy, four years ago this coming January, Joe Biden dismantled everything Donald Trump did during his term. The result of that action? We all know the answer to that one. Now it is Donald Trump's turn to get rid of the crazy and get back to being a nation once again. With our heads held high, with our proud flag waiving in the wind, this January we will reclaim what worked so well years ago. What am I saying? What has been done, can and will be undone. It is as simple as that.

When Trump was out of office, one thing he never could understand is why our country did not use the blessings or our vast energy resources. Instead, we ceded the opportunity to sell oil all over the globe to bad and evil nations. It led to the funding of endless wars. Misery at home. More inflation. Of all the things Donald Trump is going to fix before the sun sets on his first day in office, the "drill, baby, drill" will be at the top of his list. And he will be right to do so.

Trump is going to sprinkle his cabinet with deep thinking innovators. Not "yes people", but people who share Trump's vision. Trump's transition team has already been hard at work. Donald Trump knows he does not have a minute to squander. With a friendly Senate and maybe a friendly House, and only one term left to effect change, each day is going to be a treasure. 

Now it is time to turn the page on the last four years. Bear no lasting grudges but keep your memory sharp on how America really went off the tracks for a while. DEI, New Green Deal, social engineering - now are in our past. Just like reconstruction after our Civil War, Trump will reconstruct his country. He will reconstruct our national unity. 

One caveat, however, should be mentioned. If you are interested in making America greater and greater, a person who loves this country, a devotee to freedom - Donald Trump is interested in you. However, if you are a criminal who preys on the weak, a terrorist who wants to do our country harm, or a malcontent who has no interest in America, the welcome mat might be worn very thin for you. Just saying... 

 

Yesterday, today and tomorrow

 

"If you are not joyful this morning, I suggest you find someone to give you a warm hug. If that does not work and you are still bitter, just do what the gals on The View threatened to do. What is that? PACK, BABY, PACK!!! And don't let the door hit you where nature has split you!"

Wow! Is that a word which is strong enough? Anybody else tired today? Tired, and yet juiced? Trump backers have gone from jubilation in 2016, to despair and confusion in 2020, and now (dare I quote Kamala?) - JOY IN THE MORNING in 2024. Okay - I am one of those stalwarts which was up until the Sconies flipped Wisconsin. How did the rest of the natives which live in my neighborhood take that news? They were shooting off fireworks about 1 in the morning. 

Wait - what? We flipped the Senate and kept the House also? Boy is that different than 2016! Trump had an unfriendly House and Senate which stymied him at every turn. It is a miracle that Trump got as much done as he did. NOW - it will be fun to see how much he can get done with a friendly House and Senate. My guess? It will be YUGE!

On a personal note, this victory was the opposite of pyrrhic. In fact, it was a sweet as it could be. And now I will speak for millions of Trump supporters. This victory, the biggest comeback in the history of the nation, could not have happened to a better or more deserving person. They impeached him (twice), tried to take his wealth away, tried to throw him in jail, and then tried to kill him twice. How did Trump pay them back. By winning baby, winning!

The numbers will continue to roll in as to how big his victory will actually be. To me, it does not matter - only 270 mattered. And now this morning that it is 277, I am good with that. Like Kamala says, THERE IS JOY IN THE MORNING!

Truthfully, this is like Christmas morning, opening presents under the tree. Present # 1 - DRILL, BABY, DRILL! Present # 2 - for those who came here illegally, see ya! Present # 3 - Goodbye Social Security tax for seniors! Present # 4 - Hello 1.5 % inflation once again! Present # 5 - Now we will back the world away from World War III. I could go on and on, but I think you get the message. Happy days are here again.
