Game on? Or game over?

Oh, the irony. Today in Russia, May 9th, is Victory Day. We call it VE day. It is when the Nazis were finally defeated, and all of the madness which happened during World War II, ended. But what then, is the irony? Simply this - since Russia is butted right up to Europe, it was easy for Germany to invade Russia. And Russia suffered terrible losses. Like 27,000,000 dead - both military and civilian. A very large number compared to the 400,000 Americans lost during that war.

One would think, even though it has only been 80 years or so, the Russian people would remember the torture, pain and death of being invaded. Almost conquered. One would think of all nations, the Russian memory would be the sharpest. But it is not. 

But the fact is this. The invaded, have now become the invaders. That is the irony. And the frosting on the cake drips with even more irony - Putin has told the Russian people, he is fighting the Nazis who have control of Ukraine. Really Vladimir? Is that the best you can come up with?

Rumor has it that now that it is May 9th, Vladimir is going to unleash the rest of the hell that remains to be unleashed. He will declare war on Ukraine, which will allow Putin to (legally) conscript. Now he can use all the "toys" in his toy chest to pound Mariupol into submission. Kill every last one of those brave Ukrainian Marines. And then, at long last, Putin will parade Mariupol as his prize of victory. But it will be a hollow victory. The freedom fighters of Ukraine will NEVER allow that victory to stand. Come hell or high water, they will take back Mariupol.

Putting the Communist Revolution aside, there was some good history in the Russian people. Now all that will be muted, as Russia is about to be declared to be a terrorist state. A rogue state, run by war criminals. Not even close to being "good guys" (like the Americans were looked upon in each of the world wars), Russia is now the black hat nation. Reviled instead of revered.

Is there no limit to this madness?

I am going to try and replay what led up to this weekend. A leaked document, coming out of SCOTUS. It was a draft document, one where Justice Alito supposedly said the Roe decision was a mistake. For a Supreme Court Justice, who is Catholic, to make such a statement, really stirred up the mob. The threats and doxxing happened almost immediately. So much so, that this Sunday, this Mother's Day, is the first  crescendo (of sorts). Now many of the same players from the Floyd riots, are ready to muddy the waters, and sully our streets once again.

If I lived to be a thousand, I would still never understand this love affair the left has with abortion. The killing of an innocent unborn has now become the cause celebre to much of the Democrat Party. Now after over 63,000,000 innocent babies being killed since the Roe decision of 1973, this egregious decision is finally being put under the legal microscope of SCOTUS. 

But hold on! Wait just a minute! I thought just because the Roe decision might be reversed by the high court, all abortions would be made illegal. But they will not be. Depending on the state one lives in, abortions would still be legal. So what is the beef? This is a states right's issue. It should have been from the get-go. But that is not good enough for the mob. Now they have really stepped over the line.

This morning on the news, sacrilegious displays have hit a new low. The mob is demonstrating outside of some Catholic churches by burning the Eucharist. That is just about as bad as it gets. The Eucharist, which dates back to the Last Supper, which Jesus himself had blessed, is now being burning in protest. 

Where is this going to end? For reasons I don't understand, abortion rights are ripping this nation apart. Meanwhile, the question continues to be asked - "Where have all the workers gone"? Here is one answer - 63,000,000 people never made it out of the womb to be workers. Never made it out of the womb to be fathers or mothers who could celebrate Mother's Day. Never made it out of the womb to have that first breath of life. May God have mercy on us all. 

And what if...

"It is time for Russia to beat their swords into plow shares and return to a peaceful lifestyle. Unleashing their dogs of war, has served nobody well. Not even close."  

General Valery Gerasimov is now the military man who will be overseeing the Ukrainian war. Is that a good thing? Some say he will be better than the "butcher of Syria" general, Alexander Dvornikov. Others say not so fast. It is this general, Gerasimov, who came up with the order of battle which states, "escalate to de-escalate". That could end up being bad news for Ukraine, if it appears that Ukraine might win.

One of our retired generals who was interviewed this past week sounded very troubled. Although he does not see Russia resorting to a strategic nuclear exchange with the United States, he thinks it is very possible for Russia to use a tactical nuke in Ukraine. Let that sink in just for a minute. For the first time since the ending of World War II, someone on this planet would use a nuclear bomb in anger. 

This does fit right in with the "escalate to de-escalate" Russian order of battle. Nuke, maybe Kiev, and then sue for peace. That would get Ukraine to the negotiation table to divide up Ukraine. It would drive the United States back from NATO's front lines. It would not be Russia's preference on how to win, but it would sure beat losing. Meanwhile, radiation poisoning would slowing fall from the Ukrainian skies onto some of the richest farmland on the planet. It would be an ecological disaster of gargantuan proportions.

And what if some of that poison drifts over the border to Poland? Or another NATO state? Does that instigate an Article 5 response from NATO? Does this broaden the war. I shudder to think about the aftereffects of such a reckless act of setting off a nuke. And for what purpose? So Russia can once again be "great" again? Think again Vladimir. You have a date with the Hauge in your future. And if the war ended tomorrow, it will take decades for Russia to recover from the economic punishment our sanctions have levied upon your country. 

This entire incident with Russian expansionism, has been fraught with danger and dread since the get-go. Nothing good could come out of it. Well, except for one thing. It has changed the face of warfare. Smart, inexpensive drones, can now litter the skies when a tank invasion is coming. These drones are a perfect match for even the most advanced tanks. It was reported that even the newest, baddest Russian tank (the T-14), also suffered a knock out blow from one of these new drones.

Pray for peace. Pray for hardened hearts to soften. That is all we can do right now. We need to hope and pray a nuke will never be used in anger, ever again on this planet. It is time for Russia to beat their swords into plow shares and return to a peaceful lifestyle. Unleashing their dogs of war, has served nobody well. Not even close.  

Is there anybody REALLY in charge?

I almost choked on my coffee the other day when I read that OUR government was bragging about how we helping to kill Russian generals. At first glance, I thought that news story had have come from a satire piece, like the Onion. Nope. I kept hearing it, and seeing it, on other main stream news outlets. At that point I wondered if someone in the DOD had taken leave of their senses. I mean, what a dumb ass thing to do. If it were true or not, why poke the bear? Does Biden really want a shooting war with a nuclear power? Is he nuts? Well, I guess we already know the answer to that one!

Then we have our economy. What Biden does not understand, since he has never worked outside the gravy train of government, is the economy takes a whole lot of care and feeding to ensure it grows and is healthy. Biden, along with his "wokesters" and hipsters from academia, are driving us right into a major recession. Maybe even with stagflation. AND - the Fed is not helping. Raising the basic points by .5 yesterday was too little, too late. We are headed for Jimmy Carter interest rates. If you are heavily invested in the stock market - buckle up.

In less than a month, Title 42 will expire. That means upwards of 18,000 illegals per day will be crossing our southern border. It is (and will be) so bad, the State of Texas is considering declaring an invasion. Republican leaders (and some Democrats) from all over the country are begging Joe Biden to keep Title 42 in place. He won't. Why not? Because even though Biden has "bats in his belfry", he still knows one thing - he is still owned by the Squad. 

Also this weekend, was yet another head scratcher from Slo Joe. After the "leak" about the Roe decision from SCOTUS, instead of castigating the "leaker", Biden decided to go after Trump supporters. Huh? Said the MAGA crowd was the most dangerous thing since the days of Genghis Kahn. So in one week, Biden managed to really piss off the Russians, and alienate half the country's electorate. All that while driving the economy into the ditch, and letting an invasion happen on our southern border. 

Can we make it until November for the midterms? Heck, I am wondering sometimes if we can make it until tomorrow. Donald Trump has never looked so good as right now. Without Biden, Trump looked great - with Biden following Donald Trump, Trump looks absolutely stellar. But then again, if Biden had followed Jimmy Carter, Carter would have looked like a pretty good President. 

Eye watering bad...

"The smartest thing your country could do right now, is stand down across the board. Immediately leave Ukraine. Stop all shelling and bombing. DO NOT unleash any cyber attacks on anyone."

On the news this morning, it was reported that those bad boys from Russia are now considering unleashing a cyber attack on America. Why? To pay us back for all the weapons we have been sending to Ukraine. Also I guess, for the major hurt we have put on their economy, via our sanctions. If Russia does unleash their "ones and zeros" to put a hurt on us, it will be interesting to see just how prepared we are.

According to Retired General Jack Keane, he thinks we are well prepared to fight off any cyber attack. PLUS - the return volley to Russia will be massive. According to the General - it will be "eye watering". 

Here is my question to Russia - do you really want all that additional suffering? I mean, look what your government has done so far. Committed unspeakable acts of butchery and murder. So bad, many of your leaders will be tried for war crimes. And for what? Then look at the blow back. Tough, really tough sanctions. A resolute Ukrainian Army. So tough, your Army has lost 30,000 of your young men, and 10 generals. Not to mention hundreds of armored vehicles and aircraft. 

The smartest thing your country could do right now, is stand down across the board. Immediately leave Ukraine. Stop all shelling and bombing. DO NOT unleash any cyber attacks on anyone. When the Hauge summons your leaders to appear on charges, make sure they go. 

But if you do decide to stay and fight, and then expand the war by attacking our cyber infrastructure, know this - we will come back at you which will not only make your eyes water, but also stall your economy. If that is what you really want, we will accommodate you. But the smart play for Russia to take is this - stand down immediately.   

Settled law? Maybe not...

Well, last night the "ship sure hit the sand". And it had nothing to do with the war in Ukraine. This time Politico seems to have found a source which "leaked" a draft memo out into the open. A draft memo from a place which treasures secrecy when pondering a case. That of course, would be our Supreme Court. And the issue? The biggest, most contentious issue since 1973 - Roe v Wade - aka, abortion.

Wait - I thought Roe was "settled law". What happened? How in the world could SCOTUS rule otherwise? Here is the reason as some see it - it should have NEVER been a federal issue. It should have been then, and should be now, a states rights issue. And that is the secular reason. But there is more. 

The moral issue. The just over 63,000,000 innocent babies which have been killed since Roe was made law. Now if Roe is overturned, it does not mean that there will never be another legal abortion in the United States. It will just depend on which state you live in. In other words, it will be a states rights issue. It will be up to the state you live in, if abortion will be legal in that state or otherwise. 

But here is the dark side of this "rumor" leaked by Politico. We need to put on our conspiracy hats for a minute. With an historic Republican red wave expected in November, the Democrats could really use an issue right about now. And is there a better issue than Roe? So, what is this is all just a canard? Maybe. All smoke and no fire. But the pot will have been stirred. It is a long shot for the Dems, but right about now, any shot will do.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Many (myself included), could not be happier if Roe dies a quick death. Will Minnesota still have legal abortions? This state? Count on it. But at least abortion will be ours to decide. 

But let's forget the state issue for a minute and take it down one more peg. The moral issue. This is where our churches need to come into play. Why? Abortion should have never been a legal issue. It should be a moral issue. Should have been in the past, should be now, and should be forever forward. 

 

Behold - the new face of warfighting

 

"We have come a long way since a gunner trying to get a lucky shot off with a high powered rifle. Now it comes down to a soldier carrying a lightweight tube, launching a suicide drone, and then waiting for the fireworks to happen."

In the early days of WW II, when the Nazis invaded Poland, Germany had a strong tank presence. Poland did not. With this advantage weighing so heavily with the Nazis, it was incumbent upon the Poles to come up with something - and fast! They found out Nazi tanks were lightly armored - just thick enough to keep out enemy rounds.

So the Polish Army came up with a "super rifle" - the wz 35, which could fire a larger caliber round with enough velocity to pernitrate the skin of a Nazi tank. It did not take the Nazis very long to figure what was happening - so they simply put some extra armor on their tanks. The rest is history. Poland fell quickly to Nazi advances.

Flash forward to today. Being a "tanker" in an enemy tank, going up against forces supplied by the United States, is not a good place to be. The skies have become littered with very smart, very lethal, anti armor drones. The new ones are called "suicide drones" as they are cheap, lightweight, and can be launched from just about anywhere. 

From the wire guided TOW missile (very expensive), to the Javelin missile (not as expensive), to the Switchblade (very cheap and deadly), to the Phoenix Ghost missile (also very cheap and deadly), our menu of anti armor solutions keeps growing. What do the Russians think about this menu of death? They HATE it! The Ukrainian landscape is strewn with dead carcasses of Russian armor - many of which fell victim to Javelins or suicide drones.

Our DOD is way excited about the success our drones are having in the skies over Ukraine. So much so, they are now looking for contractors who can also make them, only with "longer legs". Why? To really take the fight to Russia. Start destroying Russian armor even before it crosses the border of Ukraine. 

We have come a long way since a gunner trying to get a lucky shot off with a high powered rifle. Now it comes down to a soldier carrying a lightweight tube, launching a suicide drone, and then waiting for the fireworks to happen.

If this is what the battlefield landscape is looking like in 2022, I can't even imaging what it will look like in 2030. And it won't just be the United States which has drones like this - the proliferation of these things will probably be close to endless.
