The genocide nobody cares about...

"Jesus warned us in Matthew 10:22 that those who wear his name will be hated. Even today we see just how right he was..."

Some of us remember studying about the Armenian Genocide. If was a horrific example of man's inhumanity towards his fellow man. This really was the first genocide of the 20th century. It is estimated that between 1,500,000 and 2,000,000 mostly Christian people were exiled, tortured and/or killed by the Young Turks during the period of 1915 to 1918. Much of the Armenian butchery was masked by World War I, which was going on during much of the same time frame. The League of Nations and the United Nations were not yet in existence. And the world did nothing while Armenian innocents died by the hundreds of thousands.

I believe as many do, the Armenian Genocide was the first shot in our modern day "War on Christians". And it continues today. Only the players have changed. Now we have Christians, many of who are Coptic living in the Middle East and Africa, being slaughtered by Islamic Terrorists. All because they dare wear the name of Jesus Christ. And today, unlike during the Armenian Genocide, we have do the United Nations. The United Nations, backed by a much stronger charter than the League of Nations had. And they have done......nothing.

In this country, people of the Christian faith are often painted with the broad brush of intolerance. Sometimes deserved, most of the time not. We get all wrapped around the axel over perceived discriminations by Christian people in Indiana, and yet our government says nary a peep about the slaughter of Christians worldwide. And why is that? Your guess is as good as mine.

One of the groups of murdering thugs which carry out this carnage is Al Shabaab in Northern Africa. True to their modus operandi, they broke into a university in Kenya yesterday, separated the Muslims from the non-Muslim (mostly Christian) and then executed them. To be more specific and graphic, as the undergraduate students were lined up by Al Shabaab, these soulless hoodlums asked if they were Muslim or Christian. Those who replied Muslim were freed. Those who responded Christian were either shot or beheaded. By the end of the day, 147 innocents lay murdered.

The silence continues to be deafening. This has become commonplace now. It is no longer news. That is, unless it happens over here. Innocent Christians die everyday, killed in the name of another religion. Their houses burned, their churches destroyed. These terrorists want Christians and Christianity eliminated from the face of the Earth. The United Nations, the United States, have become complicit with this genocide simply by showing benign neglect. It is shameful.

Many in the Christian faith will go to church services this Easter in places such as the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. They will have a nice breakfast, maybe an Easter egg hunt, and then participate in Easter services. They will be all dressed up and ready to celebrate the significance of this most holy day. And they will be able to do it safely.

Hopefully on Sunday, many will also say a prayer for our brothers and sisters who cannot worship safely. Who cannot live safely. Who cannot go to college safely. All because they wear the name of Jesus Christ.
