"It will be interesting to see the final bill once it is signed into law (if it ever happens). Who will be happy, and who will not be. Whose ox will be gored, and whose ox will be spared. Or is this all a charade, a canard. Our debt will keep going up, and the money to service this debt will also keep going up."
Ahh, the tax man cometh. The local paper has been filled with gloom and doom about the effects on this state, especially rural areas, should the Big, Beautiful Bill pass into law. Why? It is then our ox who will be gored. Well, in reality, every dollar of tax money spent (or wasted) comes out of our pockets. In this case, the money will come out of a different pocket. The only way to keep money from coming out of any pocket, is to trim the fat. May I say DOGE? Just like in the private sector, do more with less. Be efficient. Frugal. I know, I know. For our government at any level, those words are foreign.
It seems like no matter what we do at the federal level, our deficit and debt will keep going up. And up. And up. Even with the Big, Beautiful Bill, it is anticipated that the debt will temporarily go up, before the effects of more spending and savings kick in. But I remember even with Ronald Reagan, when he had this plan to juice the economy and get it kickstarted, spending cuts were a big part of it. The tax cuts took place, but it seems like Congress had a short memory on the spending cuts.
I am always astonished when every month most families do the kitchen table budgeting, and the government never does. Then whose ox is gored? With no constraints on government spending, we again, take it in the shorts. Why? When government cannot control spending (like the four years of Biden), inflation goes up 20%. And as most of us know, inflation is the mother of all taxes. And by the way - we still have most of Biden's 20% inflation plaguing us.
It will be interesting to see the final bill once it is signed into law (if it ever happens). Who will be happy, and who will not be. Whose ox will be gored, and whose ox will be spared. Or is this all a charade, a canard. Our debt will keep going up, and the money to service this debt will also keep going up.
Stay tuned folks. Interesting times are upon us. Will this be the wonderful summer, which was promised to us, or will this be a summer of regret. Or - maybe we won't know until sometime this fall. In any event, Washington sausage is now being made. And as most meat grinders know, that is not pretty, at all.
