Undoing a real mess

"Here is the question which few want to ask and even fewer want to answer. What to do with all those expensive and empty transit stations. Sell them? To whom, and for what? Doze them and make a parking lot out of them? Who would park there? And for what? Undoing this mess will be a boxed canyon for the planners. Why? There is no good solution. Nada. Nothing."

Somewhere, under the radar, the NorthStar is going to die a quick death. Well, maybe not that quick, as it has been on life support for years. But the graft and the maleficence involved with the NorthStar fiasco has been somewhat invisible to many as of late. Why? New shiny pennies. Like Feeding the Future, and how much they stole from the taxpayers. Or, Tampon Timmy, on how he made this laughingstock of a state even more goofy.

But back to the subject at hand. The Met Council, who are the biggest bunch of inept (and maybe corrupt) group ever assembled in Minnesota Government, have thrown in the towel. In January, once the Vikes are done, so will the NorthStar be done. And then what? What about all those magnificent (and very expensive) transit stations which have been built? And all those high-density housing projects close by to the transit stations, so folks could have easy entry to a quick trip to downtown Minneapolis to work. One minor problem however - not too many folks are working downtown anymore.

The combination of Covid and the Floyd riots have ruined the dream of a utopian downtown. Right now, all that remains of downtown is murky. The city planners want it to be a Shangri-La - most see it as nothing more than an expensive crime magnet. And they avoid it like the plague. Thus, we have rails and roads leading into a town where few like to come. The NorthStar? It should be a museum to bad planning by inept people.

Here is the question which few want to ask and even fewer want to answer. What to do with all those expensive and empty transit stations. Sell them? To whom, and for what? Doze them and make a parking lot out of them? Who would park there? And for what? Undoing this mess will be a boxed canyon for the planners. Why? There is no good solution. Nada. Nothing.

Congratulations Minnesota - once again you have been taken for a ride. And I don't mean on a choo-choo train. I mean down the rat hole that most of our taxes go down. If not getting swindled by the Somalis on Feeding our Future, it is getting ripped off by the Met Council. But who cares? We just keep electing the same morons year after year after year.
