Voting for lemons

"Want to fix the immigration mess before the election? There are two ways. One can happen today. Biden can reverse all his executive orders which reversed Trump's immigration policies. Or - have the Senate pass HR-2 and then have Biden sign it into law."

What is the number one issue in the country right now? The one most voters are concerned about? Immigration. Our border issues.  Yes, and yes. Yesterday with the failed vote to rid the country of DHS Secretary Mayorkas, EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT voted against impeachment. In fact, Al Green, who was undergoing surgery, had to be wheeled into the House chamber in his scrubs, just so he could vote for the very flawed Alejandro Mayorkas.

But - with the house being split almost in half by party, four Republicans voted to keep this guy in office. Some for strategic reasons, others for not. Lessons learned? The same lesson we have known for years. Democrats will circle the wagons to protect their own. No matter how inept or flawed someone is, Democrats will stick by that person like glue. Ergo, that is why Dean Phillips is looked upon as a traitor right now by the Dems. Republicans on the other hand, do constant purity tests, and often throw their own under the bus.

Democrats constantly vote for lemons. Look at Minnesota. Ellison as AG? Walz as Governor? Dayton as Govenor? Flanigan as Lt. Gov.? The Minneapolis City Council? The St. Paul City Council? Nationwide, I could go on and on. Democrats have one objective - power. They don't give two shouts and a holler how screwed up a candidate is, just so long they can keep the blues in power. Republicans on the other side, with fall on their swords, initiate circular firing squads, and eat their young just for purity. Many an election has been lost because of that practice. As one famous politician once said, "You can't govern if you don't win". Democrats took that to heart - Republicans blew it off.

Oh, we can't forget about Biden and his "diverse" cabinet. He mentioned that again yesterday. Biden did not care how qualified any of his minions were, just that they "checked some kind of DEI box". Or look at Eric Adams the other day. Showing off the NYC City Council. "Have you ever seen this much chocolate?", Adams said with glee? "Chocolate"? Really Mayor Adams? You are an idiot sir. How about their qualifications instead of their color?

I guess there might be another vote for impeachment next week. Or not. But who cares? Even if it succeeds, it will die in the Senate. Or if the Senate would vote to remove, Biden would just put another stooge in that spot to do his bidding. BTW - did you hear that Mayorkas was a consultant in putting together the failed compromise (and bipartisan) immigration bill in the Senate? No wonder it stunk.

Want to fix the immigration mess before the election? There are two ways. One can happen today. Biden can reverse all his executive orders which reversed Trump's immigration policies. Or - have the Senate pass HR-2 and then have Biden sign it into law. Other than that, our immigration mess will remain a mess until election day. And then we will have to wait until next January when Trump can fix things (again). SMH.,,

A symbolic spanking maybe?

"What am I saying? We are stuck with these guys until the next election. AND - should the DNC tricksters prevail once again, and we have four more years of grandpa - we will still have Garland and Mayorkas also. Are they deserving of re-election? ABSOLUTELY NOT!"

My friend and Congressman Tom Emmer was on the national news this morning. He was asked about today's BIG event. I know, I know. With all that is going on, this HUGE event got lost in the weeds. It is the impeachment vote on DHS Secretary Mayorkas. When Emmer was asked flat out, "Do you have the votes? Even with that skinny majority you have?" Tom's answer - "If everybody shows up, we should." My take? Getting enough votes might be pulling an inside straight. Possible, but not probable.

Here are the facts why nobody is getting that spun up by today's vote. Is Mayorkas guilty of not following the law, and destroying our southern border? Oh yeah. But - even if Emmer is right and there are enough votes to impeach Mayorkas, it will die in the Senate. It will end up being a "symbolic spanking". Tomorrow morning, Mayorkas would report to work like nothing had happened.

Somebody on the news the other day asked the $64,000 question. "Is not Mayorkas only a stooge who does Biden's bidding on the border?" BINGO! Biden should also be impeached for this travesty. But wait - if these are law breakers, who is the highest law officer in the land right now? AG Garland is the answer. And because he turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to this mess, he too, should be impeached. Mayorkas, Garland and Biden should all be unemployed right now. But again, the Deep State lifers in the Senate, will let these guys all skate. Even if the House impeached all three of them, it would only be a "symbolic spanking".

What am I saying? We are stuck with these guys until the next election. AND - should the DNC tricksters prevail once again, and we have four more years of grandpa - we will still have Garland and Mayorkas also. Are they deserving of re-election? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But if Trump wins, the DHS and DOJ offices will be cleaned out and fumigated. But what about the White House? Same thing, only it might need an exorcism also.

Just by what has happened to this runaway illegal invasion the past three years, I hope the voters have learned their lesson. Some who voted for Biden have, but it should be all of them. The tyrants have dealt us a severe blow the past three years - let's hope it was not a fatal blow. This November, vote for Donald Trump like our nation's life depends on it. Why? It does.

Is HR2 going to be the "gold standard"?

"Biden screwed this whole thing up from the get-go. It is all on him. Period, full stop. If he does not like HR2, that is tough toenails. If he had only left this alone from when he took office, we would not have this mess right now."

The text for the Senate immigration bill was released last night. It was supposed to have been released on Friday. But that does not matter. It is a convoluted pile of goo. It was going to be a bill which would make everyone happy. Turns out, it might be the bill which would make nobody happy. However - if one person was very important to love this bill, it would have been Speaker Johnson. Why? So, he could champion the bill through the House. But - when he first said the bill will be "dead on arrival" when it hits the House, and then when he reads the text he said, "it is worse than what he thought", it seems this bill will become law sometime on the 12th of Never.

The House has already passed a bill called HR2. Is it perfect? No, but it does put things back close to what they were during the Trump era. But here is one bug-a-boo with the bill. We need the cooperation of Mexico. With this bill, or even with the failed Senate bill. Why? Remain in Mexico proviso. The government of Mexico, along with the cartels hate it. It does nothing for Mexico - but it is the right thing to do. But so long as Mexico balks at this proviso, we have big problems in River City.

Say what you want about Donald Trump, but he knew how to make a deal. Remain in Mexico was just fine when he was president. Now Humpty Dumpty might be broken on that one. Now we might not have enough "glue" to put this thing back together again. This could leave us with only one choice - lock the borders down. Finish the wall. Put people in jail for illegal trespass. We might have to go from the patsies that Biden made us appear to be, to harder than nails. Failure to do SOMETHING, will result in us having over 10 million illegals enter our country during Biden's term. And the remedy to fix that mess, might be repugnant to many on the left. This will be a big part of Biden's legacy.

The Senate might as well pass HR2. And Biden better sign it. There really is no plan "B" right now, unless you consider the status quo plan "B". The citizens do not. Biden screwed this whole thing up from the get-go. It is all on him. Period, full stop. If he does not like HR2, that is tough toenails. If he had only left this alone from when he took office, we would not have this mess right now. But he did not. His seething hatred for Donald Trump caused this. Hatred Uncle Joe - you should know better. Nothing good ever comes out of hatred.

This will be the mess a go-go for the next few months. I have no clue how this will turn out. All I know is this - Texas has the cure. Lock it down and throw up the razor wire. All of a sudden, Texas has never looked so good.

Our brotherhood of man (and woman)

"What is the meaning of life? Maybe it is as simple as just being with each other, caring for each other. I always think that God smiles down on us when we congregate with each other. Why? It is part of His greatest commandment."

A church we once attended had a very gifted pastor. Great messaging. He often talked about how mankind is a relational creation. In other words, as the old song goes, "we are people who need people". Being a hermit is not in our nature. It is unnatural. However, being with people, being friends to people, helping people, caring for people, loving on people - that is in our nature. That is how God wired us.

Have you ever noticed how really good it feels when you run into someone you have not seen for ages, and you have a chance to visit with that person? I know for me, it not only makes my day, but also my week - maybe my month. Sharing someone's life through conversation is really a gift. Showing empathy, sympathy, pathos, or whatever you want to call it - is a good thing, a natural thing. It is something that as the expression goes, warms the cockles of your heart.

At our present church, we are in a small group. We also have the honor of leading the group. One of the things we learned long ago, is being a part of a small group, makes a big church seem like a small church. It is a chance to know and be known, serve and be served, and love and be loved. It is chance to get to know people on a more intimate level. Know about their families, their struggles, their hopes, their highs, their lows. In other words, it is a chance to ratchet up the feeling or brotherhood and/or sisterhood. It is a wonderful opportunity.

Last evening we spent some time with some good friends. It was a fun night, a night of sharing, a night of catching up, a night of laughter. Times like those are more precious than gold. Again, we are relational beings, and to be with good friends, is beyond great. Next week we will meet with some other friends we have not seen for ages. These are friends we made while in a former small church group called "Alpha". We grew very close while in that group. I can't wait.

What is the meaning of life? Maybe it is as simple as just being with each other, caring for each other. I always think that God smiles down on us when we congregate with each other. Why? It is part of His greatest commandment.

Shocked, there is no "Awe"?

"One vet who was on the news said to really get some fear and respect from the bad guys, they need to only know one thing. They spill one drop of American blood; we will avenge that act by taking buckets of blood from them."

Our "Appeaser in Chief", did it again. Chickened out. What is it with these Iranians? What kind of spell do they have over Obama, Kerry, Sulivan and Biden? Some nude pics perhaps? Maybe some salacious acts found on Hunter's laptop. What is it? Here we wait for almost a full week for our country to avenge our three dead service members, and what did we get? As one pundit said - a multimillion dollar fireworks show. Did we telegraph our first punch to the bad guys? Oh yeah, we did - live and in color. Did we hit Iran, the mother of all bad deeds? No way Jose! Those guys are off limits!

Okay Bird - you seem to have all the answers. What would you have done it you were in charge? That is an easy question. Iran is a target rich country. To hit them in the solar plexus, you can either go after a high-ranking baddie like Trump did - or infrastructure like Reagan did. Actually, Reagan did not want to mess with these guys too long, so he just sank half the Iranian Navy. Today, we should do things a bit different.

Kharg Island. Iran's major oil port. A salvo of fifty or so Tomahawk Missiles, followed up by a week or so of bombing, and Kharg island won't be able to do anything but exist. This would give a new definition to the word, "Don't".

The problem with Biden, besides being a yellow belly, is this - he set the table early in his presidency. Our retreat from Afghanistan. It was so bad, so cowardly, and so public, the entire world saw that our new president was nothing more than an empty suit. By the way, not to change to subject - did we ever avenge those thirteen brave service men and women who died at Abby Gate? No? Didn't think so. How about those thirty dead American civilians who were killed by Hamas on October 7th? No? Didn't think so. The two dead SEALS, who died trying to stop Iranian arms from coming into the bad guys? No again.

One vet who was on the news said to really get some fear and respect from the bad guys, they need to only know one thing. They spill one drop of American blood; we will avenge that act by taking buckets of blood from them. Shock and Awe baby! We have the biggest and baddest military in the world, and we know how to use it.

One of the more curious things that Biden did since October was this - first he brought our most potent fighting ship into the area (USS Ford). The Ford sat there and did nothing but prepare. Then for some reason, Biden brought the Ford out of the area, and had nothing to replace it with. Having both the Ford and the IKE on station was a good idea. Leaving only the IKE there was a head scratcher.

Shocked that there is no awe? Get used to it. We have another year to go of being a paper tiger. Obama was bad, and Biden is worse. On that issue, I have nothing more to say.

Searching for the Free States of America

"Of course, the above scenario is fantasy thinking. As much as I would like to live only with freedom lovers, we are stuck living close to the gulag called Minneapolis. How different is Minneapolis from most of Texas? Like, black and white. Night and day. Good and evil."

If this great nation does split in two, I am thinking the epicenter for the New America, better known as the Free States of America, will be Texas. What we are seeing in Texas right now, with the revolt over border protection led by Governor Greg Abott, is just an example of the fierce independence which courses through the veins of most Texans.

Texas has always been a "one off" state in the Union. A little-known fact is Texas has always had the authority to split into five separate states, if they wanted to. Just think if they did that now. Instead of having two senators, the state(s) of Texas would have ten. And what if all ten thought the same freedom loving thoughts? Republicans would have a majority in the Senate as well as the House. We could tell Biden to pound sand.

Most patriots feel the same way about our country right now. It took two tyrants, the first being Obama, and the second being Biden, to remind freedom lovers what life under King George was like. Whereas the Free States of America love the taste and smell of freedom, the people who live in the other country (the Subjected States of America), love the feel of a boot on their necks. Freedom is repugnant to them. Tyranny is comfort. Being a subject would sure beat being a citizen.

What about borders? Where the border issue is today a HUGE issue, after the split in the country, the Free States of America will have an absolute border. After all (what is that saying again?) - "A country without a border is not a country". If the Subjected States of America wants to keep their borders open - go for it, and good luck.

Of course, the above scenario is fantasy thinking. As much as I would like to live only with freedom lovers, we are stuck living close to the gulag called Minneapolis. How different is Minneapolis from most of Texas? Like, black and white. Night and day. Good and evil.

If necessary, could Texas hold the population of all the other freedom loving states? If everyone decided to move there? After all, the population of Texas is now over 30 million. Interesting question, as back in 2011, some organization did a study to find out how much land it would take to hold every person on Planet Earth. Guess which state they picked? Texas. Texas could hold seven billion people. It would be crowded, but Texas could hold them.

Why have so many in our present country given up on freedom? On liberty? Why do so many love the feel of tyranny these days? Good questions for another day.

Maybe no longer ones and zeroes Valdimir

"Quantum computing and AI. Used for good, they will propel us into a brave new world. Used with bad intentions, they would be the end of us all. But Valdimir was correct - cyber will play a big part in the next war, be it digital, quantum and/or AI. We need to be ready."

Vladimir Putin is rumored to have said that the next world war would be fought with ones and zeroes instead of bullets and bombs. Hmm - seems someone forgot to give both sides fighting the Ukrainian War that memo. Anyhow, he is (or was) maybe correct on that issue. With the proper cyber warfare, you could literally bring a country to its knees. And do it without leaving home.

We (along with others) are rapidly developing broad based quantum computing. With this "spooky" type of computing, we will be able to do amazing things, things which at one time were impossible. Quantum computing will use qubits - which can exist in multiple states simultaneously (told you it was spooky). How good will quantum computing be? You can ditch the ones and zeroes, as they will become "so yesterday".

By the way, regardless if the digital form of computing is used, or if quantum computing is used, FBI Director Wray had a showstopper of a statement yesterday in front of Congress. Seems our good friends the Chicoms have been busy loading our infrastructure up with malware. So much so, should hostilities break out with China, they could shut down our water treatment plants, electrical grid, communications, and distribution systems. Wray said that the Chicoms have put so much effort, do many resources into their upcoming cyber war with America, if we put every cyber asset we had on the Chicom problem, their cyber experts would still outnumber ours 50-1.

But wait - this is not a totally bad news story. We DO have the technology and resources to go toe to toe with the Chicoms. But that expertise lies mostly in our private sector. If we could figure out a way to merge some of that smartness in a private/public partnership, without violating any companies IP, we could be in business. But without that, we will stay in the back seat. If it looks like Taiwan is going to be a flash point - better bunker up.

When we get a normal president, he or she will need to send a direct communication to the Chinese. Should you make our lights flicker, our toilets not be able to flush, our cellphones or internet going dead, our water faucets go dry - we will take that as an act of war. And we will retaliate with everything we have, including nuclear. And the first item on our target list will be your Three Gorges Dam. Let that marinate with the bad guys for just a bit.

Quantum computing and AI. Used for good, they will propel us into a brave new world. Used with bad intentions, they would be the end of us all. But Valdimir was correct - cyber will play a big part in the next war, be it digital, quantum and/or AI. We need to be ready.
