A dollar short, an hour late...

 

 

"Do we know who we are firing at? Who cares? We just care it looks good!"

Good grief Charlie Brown! Our government is starting to look more like a sitcom on a cheesy TV channel. No - I take that back. It is looking like a Greek tragedy. Well in any event, it is a mess. Not too long ago I though it was slightly worse than the gang who could not shoot straight. Now I call it the dollar short and hour late gang.

In my life on this planet, I have NEVER quite seen anything like this. At first I thought the President, and many who surround him, were just inept. You know, like Jimmy Carter redux. Then I came to the realization that NOBOBY, not even our current President, could be this clumsy. Then I looked into the conspiracy theories. Is this all by design? Is he trying to wreck our country. Is he a "Muslim Mole" as some have suggested?

None of the conspiracy theories seemed to do it for me. I have therefore settled on this. He is a man of his word. He promised he would give us transformation, and he is intent on doing it. The problem has been this - the world is not cooperating with him. What he wants, and what the world gives, often have not been in sync. Consequently, as he has waited for the world to accommodate his wishes, he has been late to react to events which require lighting speed. He has transformed our country from great to ordinary to deeply in trouble. To accomplish that transformation, he has consistently been a dollar short and an hour late. And I believe that is how history will judge him.

The President's world view is simple, very idealistic and quite naïve. No war, no guns, no poverty, and most of all, no more Republicans. Instead of that, this is short list of some things the dollar short and hour late method of governance has yielded:

• No justice for Brian Terry and hundreds of dead Mexicans. Why? Our Government illegally sent guns into Mexico to sway public thinking about needed gun control. The plan backfired and people died. Meanwhile, our Attorney General is complicent with justice denied for the Terry family.
• Ditto on the no justice for Ambassador Stevens and the other three brave Americans who died needlessly in Benghazi. This entire episode stinks, and the cover up continues. Rather than rescue our heroes the call came from on high to "stand down". It was all because the Administration "groupthink" did not want the image of us fighting in the Middle East, even on a rescue mission. 
• Another innocent was decapitated in ISIL held territory. The thugs over there are just laughing at us right now. Next they will decapitate a former Army Ranger. We are still doing some "pin pick" air strikes to try and stop them, but with few results. We should have been carpet bombing these barbarians for months now.  If our President, who could not get out of Iraq fast enough, had listened to his generals, we would not been in an much quicksand as we are right now. Now after many months of neglect, we need to go back into Iraq and win territory back that we had previously liberated.
• Rather than ban flights from Africa until the Ebola crisis is under control, our PC President has done nothing except tell us not to worry. Meanwhile, cases (and suspected cases) of this dreaded disease keep popping up. If this thing mutates into airborne transmission, we are really screwed. A dollar short and an hour late again.
• The secret service is a mess. The President put in a "fixer" he thought would please the diversity crowd. Instead of fixing things, she just made them worse.  

The bottom line is this President does not care about results, just how things look. It is all optics (that is of course, unless he is playing golf). Last night on a TV panel, one of this staunchest supporters of the President called him "lazy". She went on to say, "he is not inept, he is not evil, he is just "lazy". Wow! And that comes from someone on his side. The people on my side are using adjectives which are not nearly as kind.

A dollar short and an hour late. In today's world, that is a toxic recipe. Can we survive until the end of his term? We have to. Will the damage he has done be fixable? I don't know. All I know is this - if we are dumb enough to elect Hillary after what this guy has done, I am moving to Canada.
