A town without pity...

"No its not very pretty what a town without pity, can do...."

A Town without Pity
Gene Pitney

There is an old saying. When your opponent starts to self destruct, just stand out of the way. It is really too bad there are no Republicans left in Minneapolis (that is, none who want to run for office). The "group think" with the citizens in the once famous City of Lakes has devolved into something like it was a play taken from the Theater of the Absurd. But this latest cornball idea has really taken the cake.

"Hmm", said Valley Girl, who is running for some feel good office in Minneapolis. "I can envision a city where every day at 4:15 there is a rainbow in the sky, and every lawn has a unicorn grazing on it." Not to be out done, Pajama Boy who is running for the Executive Diversity Manager said, "Not only that, every soldier from every nation will have daisies coming out of his, hers or whatever's rifles. And war of course - would be no more."

I know. Right now many of you are ready to change the channel. "Come on Bird! Get real! Tell us the real news of the day!" Okay - I will. There are a whole bunch of Snowflakes running for office in Minneapolis who can envision a city without police. Before you holler BS, let me direct you to this morning's paper. Yes, it is true. What the Sam Hill do we need cops for? For a starter, this country has always had some kind of law enforcement. Even in the wild west.

Okay Snowflakes - get ready for this one. Chicago, the murder capital of the United States, has 12,000 cops in Chicago. Let that sink in for just one minute. Last year over 700 murders, this year already over 500, and 12,000 cops on duty in the city. I wonder how high those numbers would be if Chicago decided to do away with their police department. I am not the best speller in the world, but I can spell anarchy.

So Minneapolis - go ahead and get rid of your cops. Why not? You have done every thing else to drive away visitors. Of course it will never happen that Minneapolis would get rid of its cops. But the fact that some would even suggest it, is beyond me.

  1. I couldn't believe your blog comments, so I went online to look at the article. The following excerpt says it all........

Those candidates, who responded to the question for a voter guide compiled by the nonprofit Voices for Racial Justice and published with Pollen Midwest and Rhymesayers Entertainment,

I laughed when I read this line. Could it get any worse? Luckily, after continued reading, the serious candidates responded with a resounding "NO". That made me feel a little better.
The serious candidates should have said "NO" to the entire survey.
    It is what it is.
I think you should drop the Strib and go with USA Today or the SP Pioneer Press. Reading that rag will cause one to seriously doubt the sanity of the world.
I suggested Flipboard for online news, but it does have a few too many 45 articles that don't seem to genuflect properly to the real estate tycoon, so maybe not.

  3. 45 continues his reality show experience into his presidency...

The bulk of 45's experiences directly before running for president was as a reality TV star and producer. (In truth, 45 has been performing in a reality show of his own making for his entire life.) And, in that role, the goal is always to stoke drama, always do everything you can to keep people watching -- through the commercial, through the hour, through to next week's episode. Cliffhangers are the best way to do that -- stoking speculation, reversing expectations and, above all, ensuring people feel compelled to just keep watching.
The "does he know what he's doing or is he just doing it?" conundrum sits at the heart of virtually every move 45 has made as a candidate and now as President. What's more dangerous with this latest loose talk, however, is that even if 45 is just saying things to hype up the drama rather than to warn of an actual impending military action, he (and we) have no way of knowing if Iran, North Korea or any other potential target understands that.
