Killing our young folk

"I am tired of losing our young people. I don't give a rat's butt which state they live in, what color they are, or who they supported for President. I simply don't care."

Even though we have very short news cycles these days, the horrific shooting in Las Vegas is still fresh in our minds. As bad as it was, and it was very bad, we also have other horrific things going on which get little or no press. Why is that? Mostly because it is a "boiling frog" issue. It has been going on so long now, that very few even notice it.

What is a "boiling frog" issue? Chicago for one. Last year, Chicago had 762 homicides. Of that number, most were young black men. And most were killed by guns. The outrage? Jessie? Al? Anyone? Sorry - not here. This year Chicago just went over 500 shot and killed. The city leaders viewpoint? Chicago is still a neat place to live and visit. Having all those young black men killed every year is just a "cost of business" for living in a large blue city.

And now there is another monster on the loose which is robbing our young people of a life and a future. Drugs. Not just any drug, but souped up drugs which can stop your heart and put you on the express to the hereafter before you even know what is happening. Yesterday, there was a rash of overdoses in Minneapolis caused by some new toxic brew which is being sold. Many overdoses. Newsworthy in the paper? Nope. Why? Cost of doing business living in a large blue metro area.

Folks, our young people are being taken out right now, right in front of our eyes. Suicide, drugs, gun violence, and dare I say it - abortion. We are either killing our seed corn, or watching them die without doing much to help. And Chicago? It should be declared a war zone and militarized. Yes, it is that bad. What a mess.

As far as drugs are concerned, the cartels in Mexico are doing just fine, thank you. It is our demand for their poison which is keeping them in business. Since we cannot do anything to control ourselves, we need to then control the border. The Border Patrol admits they can only catch about 15% of all drugs crossing. Shut the border down, and nobody or nothing comes in unless it is thoroughly vetted.

One more thing to this fairly new movement called Black Lives Matter. Most of us are not going to take your cause seriously until you become more genuine and less selective. In other words, an occasional shooting of a young black man by a white policeman will bring your crowd out in large numbers and protest for days. But a young black man being killed by another young black man does not even get a nod. I don't want our young black men killed by cops or each other. In both cases, a young man lie dead.

I am tired of losing our young people. I don't give a rat's butt which state they live in, what color they are, or who they supported for President. I simply don't care. And I am really tired of the laziness of the MSM not covering this more. As a nation, we deserve better. Much better.

  2. Spice is the entry drug of choice in the TC...........

This is the biggest uptick I've seen and the biggest volume we've seen in recent memory," said Dr. Ann Arens, an HCMC toxicologist.

Inside HCMC, the Minnesota Poison Control Center has also fielded calls about K2, most widely known synthetic marijuana also referred to as "spice," and banned in the U.S.

Dr. Arens has handled many of the recent K2 cases coming into the emergency room.

"So these drugs act in the same part of the brain marijuana does but the effects are completely different," Arens said. "Some of the problems that we see people are described to have heart attacks, people have been described to be so agitated they need medication to help them be more sedate, people have stopped breathing and need breathing tubes to breathe for them, kidney failure."
