Dying for a vote

One would have to have the IQ of a rock (or lower) not to see the game which is being played out on the southern border. It has turned out to be a war, a war in which we are losing. Let me re-phrase that. It is a war in which the citizens and patriots of this country are losing. The socialist democrats are happier than clams right now. Why? Their side is winning. Their side, meaning supporting the hundreds of thousands of illegals who are going under, over and through our porous southern border. And each one of these people represents one more vote for the socialists.

How bad is it right now? Real bad. Since our country refuses to speak with a common voice on this issue, the cartels, the gangs, the coyotes are having a field day. More drugs are making it across, more trafficked children and women are making it in, and of course, up to a million more illegals are expected to hop the fence by year's end. How do I know of this? I watched part of the DHS hearing yesterday, where despite boorish behavior by the socialist democrats towards the DHS Secretary, Ms. Nielsen laid out a frightening scenario. Our southern invasion has gone from a trickle, to a stream, to a full frontal assault. 

A million more illegals in this country by year end. That number is higher than the population of some of our states. According to the DHS, that number of people will completely outflank our resources to contain. As this dire picture was being painted for the socialists on the committee, some of the socialist rocks could only ask about cages for kids. You know - the cages which go back to the Obama Administration. Funny these cages never got mentioned back then.

Other bits of information are also starting to come out. Like we now need to give all the young females, down to age 10, pregnancy tests. What? Why? Because so many have been sexually assaulted on the long trip up here. We have also found out the coyotes are telling EVERYONE to ask for asylum, whether they need it or not. That will ensure them entrance into the United States. We are so bound up by PC nonsense, as well as tripping over socialist hurtles, that evil plan is working. We are becoming flooded with peasants. Peasants with no vocational skills, no English language sills, and no citizenship. 

Well played Democrats, well played! All this for more votes. You are so sick and twisted, you are blind as to what you are doing. You are now single handedly accomplishing what the Nazis, the Japanese, the Soviets have not been able to do this country. You are wrecking it. Brick by brick, you are tearing this wonderful country apart. Dismantling it. But maybe that is the plan. The plan you useless idiots have had in your back pockets. Maybe you have been playing for the other team all along.

Here it is folks. In the 70's there was a best selling book called The Greening of America. Today, we all could write a new book called The Fleecing of America. And once the fleecing is over, our country will never be the same again. Never. All for votes. Socialist votes. Votes that many migrants have already died for on the journey north. 

Ready for sanctuary counties

Relax folks. I know the word "sanctuary" is like nails on the chalkboard to many. I know it is to me. But today, I am going to talk about a different kind of sanctuary. The good kind. The normal kind. And it is not just in one location. I have been reading that more and more counties within different states are becoming sanctuary. Sanctuary from what? From unconstitutional gun grabbing laws. Plus - the country sheriffs are behind it.

Is this good news, or what? The sheriffs get it, our statist politicians sure do not. The politicians continue to ignore the gang banging crime problem in the inner cities (Gasp! Profiling?), and then want to punish the law abiding gun owners. The sheriffs can see through this ruse, as plain as day.

Here is an example. Even though our sheriff is a personal friend, if I should use by guns in an unlawful or dangerous manner, he, or one of his deputies, would come knocking at my door. I would expect no less. However, should I continue to buy my firearms in a legal manner, have an up to date licence to carry, and safely store them in my home, he would never darken my doorway with the intent to take my guns.

The gun issue is only one part of the madness we are seeing today with an out of control government. Is madness too strong of a word? Not hardly. A government which condones infanticide is madness. A government which redefines freedom as only their freedom, to tell us how to live, how to eat, and how to commute is madness. A government which allows taxation, which has become confiscation of wealth is madness. Speaking of which, it was reported yesterday that some nut ball Democrat Congressman now wants the government to tax transfers in and out of our retirement savings. It never stops. 

Right now, until we get the grownups back in charge of the Congress, we will take our victories when and where we can get them. Thank you sheriffs, in this world of upside-down, showing us real backbone. You are true patriots. As for the rest of us, stay strong, stay resolute, stay prepared. Saner days are on the horizon. They have to be.  

Minnesota's Newest Meatheads

I never thought Minnesota could stoop so low, as to elect people who would make Betty McCollum and Keith Ellison look almost normal. But we have. We outdid ourselves in this last election. Somehow, we scraped the bottom of the talent barrel to end up with two certified meatheads. These two folks are beyond clueless. In fact, one might even be an enemy of the state.

Let me address our new Governor first. You know, the carpetbagger from Nebraska. Rumor has it he was a high school teacher prior to going into politics. Whatever he taught, I sure hope it was not science, because when it comes to science, this man does not know a dit from a "duh!". Let me throw economics in there also. Anyhow, the Governor's latest brain out-gassing, was to mandate by 2050, Minnesota would get 100% of its electricity from windmills and solar panels. Not exactly a Mensa statement when we are still sitting in the middle of another polar vortex. 

Unless Walz knows of some alien technology the government is keeping under wraps, this idea is a prescription for disaster. He will be signing Minnesota up for having brownouts and blackouts during the harshest of weather. 100% solar and wind? In 30 years? In Minnesota? Never happen. The technology will be not be ready yet.

Let's face facts folks. Governor "Rocks and Cows" also has rocks in his socks. And in his head. Even the local paper admitted if we did not have every ounce of fuel reserve we had during our last real tough vortex, some folks might have froze. Like in froze to death. But enough about him this morning.

Our other national embarrassment is the gift who keeps on giving - to our President. Whenever either AOC or Omar opens their mouths, Trumps poll numbers go up. How unpopular is Omar right now (that is, outside of Cedar Riverside)? The President can't stand her, the Republicans can't stand her, and now the Democrats are wishing she would just go away. Why? She is a Jew hater. And Israel hater. Maybe even an American hater. Then how in the world could we have let someone like this into the United States Congress? It is called PC, stupidity, and massive voter ignorance.

This morning on the national news, once again Omar was item number one in the headlines. When people outside of Minnesota talk about her, they are mystified how she got to where she is. Like, what is wrong with Minnesota? Her racism is so blatant, she does not even try to mask it. At least with AOC, it is just stupidity. With Omar, it is stupidity and hatred. Plus we have this unsolved issue about (alleged) immigration fraud which this state is afraid to address.

Do you want the good news? There is none. The bad news is in her community, she can run term after term and keep getting re-elected by large majority. All that thanks to Barack Obama and his refugee resettlement program.

Minnesota is sure not what it once was. Yes, the DFL party has been strong in this state for years, but that is back when we had more "normal" Democrats. Now we have wingnuts. I am not sure where this will all end up. If more and more of the normal folks are going to move out of CD 5 (which Omar represents), or if statewide, more normal folks with money are just going to leave the state before Walz makes them paupers.

"Jesus wept"

It is the shortest verse in the Holy Bible. John, Chapter 11, Verse 35. I think of that verse often. Especially when it comes to (get ready, this is going to hurt) - abortion. Yes folks, this morning I am calling out my fellow Christians. It does not matter which denomination - I am calling you out. For way too long, Christians have sat on the sidelines and watched the secular humanists rip our nation apart with the most evil things. And the most evil of all, is the killing of our unborn.

This Wednesday starts Ash Wednesday. Good. This is the appropriate time to hammer this message home. But before I really start, one very interesting statistic needs to be brought to bear. Did you know that abortions within the Muslim community are very, very rare? That is because Muslims look at a woman's womb, when holding a child, as being like a holy place. We, on the other hand, are racing head first into allowing abortion right up to the moment of infanticide. 

If you call yourself a Christian, a follower of Christ, and are pro-choice, this might make you uncomfortable. That is the plan. You should be. One of the most poignant bumper stickers I have seen in quite a while had a simple message on it. "You can't be Catholic and also pro-choice". Bingo! I would have changed one word however - "Christian" for "Catholic". Speaking of the Catholics however - hats off to them! While many denominations within the Christian faith have become deaf, dumb and blind on the abortion issue, many Catholics are leading the charge against it.

If your church is not preaching about the horrible sin of abortion, ask your pastor why not. According to Bing, there are 240 million Christians living in the United States. That is about 75% of the current population of our county. So what is the problem? Since we so outnumber the secular humanists, how has abortion been allowed to gain this much traction? Since Roe v. Wade passed in 1973, tens of millions of the unborn have been killed. How could we, as a Christian nation, have let that happen? How can we still?

For many years now, I have felt that every time an innocent fetus is killed, Jesus weeps. Every life has been planned by God - it is right in scripture. Some talk about the evil doing of the abortionist. Yes, they are correct in that fact. But sometimes being silent and allowing evil to happen in broad daylight, shines the light of guilt on all of us. 

We cannot be silent any longer. If we could go back in time fifty years, and tell people in our time we abort babies right up to the time of delivery, they would not believe it. No society could be that cruel. Look in the mirror folks. We are there right now. And law makers, many of whom profess to be Christians, are siding with the secular humanists in allowing this to happen. 

The evil is so blatant, so horrendous, a reckoning might be in store for America. We need to turn from this sin, and do it now. Law makers who side with secular humanists need to be recalled, impeached or voted out. Churches need to hold their members accountable. We are a better country than this folks. At least we once were.  

Another great flood cometh?

"We were up in Grand Forks a few years ago. The town still wears the scars of that great flood. Seeing where the high water mark was noted, it was hard to imagine that much water coming into town." 

In my yard, in my woods, on my roof (as I pen this), sit thousands of gallons of frozen water. Am I unique? Not a bit. I dare say every other person in the eastern Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin has the same issue. I know this might seem far fetched, but some day in the semi-near future, all that frozen water is going to change back into liquid water. When that happens, we might have to batten down the hatches, and some might have to fill sandbags.

If we assume the average snow depth all over Minnesota was 10 inches (most have much more than that), and that 10 inches contained the average amount of moisture, the total water content sitting on frozen ground right now in Minnesota is about 140 billion gallons. When that melts, some will go into the ground, some will go into rivers and streams, and some might overflow the river banks and cause flooding. 

A local meteorologist on the news the other day said our snow pack is set up the same way it was in 1997 - the year of the great Grand Forks flood. That year was a mess of the highest order. The Red River spilled way out of its banks, onto the rich farmland of Minnesota and North Dakota. The town of Grand Forks was all but evacuated. 

We were up in Grand Forks a few years ago. The town still wears the scars of that great flood. Seeing where the high water mark was noted, it was hard to imagine that much water coming into town. But it could happen again. With the right set of circumstances, 2019 could be the next great flood year. 

I have said this many times before. It seems like such a shame that all that fresh water which gets into swollen rivers and streams, has a final destination - salt water. Once that water hits the ocean, the only way it can be reclaimed as fresh water is 1) wait until it evaporates and then falls back to Earth in the form of rainfall, or 2) pump it out of the ocean and desalinate it - very costly. Seems to me the smart money would be to capture some of that precious water before it hits the ocean.

Let's face it. We (as humans) do a lousy job of capturing excess rain or water from snow melt. If we could capture and divert some of it to areas of the country which are water starved year after year, that would be a huge win for everyone. If we could capture and store some of that water for irrigation in our "bread basket", the Ogallala Aquifer could last a bit longer. Right now, this huge aquifer's days are numbered. When the Ogallala is depleted, our nation's midsection will have some huge problems. 

Stay tuned on this one folks. March will be the tale of the tape. Right now, it is predicted that the first part of March will be colder than normal (it is -11 as I write this on March 3rd). That means no slow melting of the snow pack. If we have normal or above precipitation in late March and April, with normal or above temps, that is when we could have some problems. 

How serious could March flooding be on the Red River, the St. Croix or the Mississippi? As our favorite plumber always likes to say - "water always wins."

Everybody has a story...

 Some might think, 'I am not that special. I have not done that much in my life.' Wrong. I have never met a person who had no story to tell." 

I am going to take a break from politics today. Am I stale? I hope not. Have I run out of rants? Not by a long shot. But sometimes I like to write about science, faith issues, or personal relationships I have had. Today my article is relational. And there is something I need to confess. Politics aside, I love people. I love to hear their stories. Plus - the best part of hearing someone's story is this - each one is unique. For the most part, I find each story to be fascinating.

Even though the word "history" is derived from a Greek work which means "to investigate", many folks today think "history" really means "his story". Or to be PC, also "her story". Our old pastor would often say, "everyone has a history". Bingo - we all do. For the sake of this article, I will say "history" is a person's story. Like I say, everyone has a story.

Good negotiators try to get to know as much about the other person's story as possible prior to the horse trading. Why? Often times, the more you know about the story, the more you might know about the motivation in the business dealing. But that is for work. I like to hear a person's story at anytime - work, recreation, neighbor, or part of a group. 

Some folks are very free in telling their stories. Yes, sometimes too much - or so much so, the true message gets lost in a blizzard of vernacular. Some are very private with their stories. It might just be shyness, or it could be their stories contain hurt which the person prefers to keep buried. Most folks however, enjoy telling at least part of their stories. Sometimes an "icebreaker" type of question is needed to get the conversation going. But once it starts, it is all good. 

This would not be a true Bird article if there was not just a smidge of politics. I like to know the stories of those who are committed to the other side in politics. For example, I know what it is in my life which first drew me to the conservative way of thinking. Often times, to know the story of someone on the other side, helps me understand the why and wherefore which makes that person tick (politically). Truthfully - knowing stories helped more in the old days when Democrats were a bit more main stream. There is no story in the world which would help me understand the new socialists. Take AOC for example....

If you know me, or don't know me as yet, and might some day, please don't be shy in sharing your story. Your story is something which has never been written before, nor will ever be written the same again. It is 100% unique. Some might think, "I am not that special. I have not done that much in my life." Wrong. Never met a person who had no story. 

The stories are in there folks. Each one is more precious than gold. A woman I sat next to at a client's office had a saying on her white board. "When a person dies, the library closes." One day I asked her about that saying. She explained that all the stories and experiences that a person has had in his or her life - ends the day of death. That is, unless the stories are told and/or chronicled.

My mother wrote her story down on paper for me before she died. About thirty pages long. Her 96 plus years, from early childhood to old age. It is truly a treasure, and I will pass it down to my kids and then hopefully their kids. 

My story? Still being written. Last year was a whopper of a chapter in my story, and I was blessed to have some of the experiences I did. This year, once we get out of the deep freeze and snow globe, I hope to add to that chapter.

So then, what really are our stories? Our lives. It is as pure and simple as that.     

Ya? What are you going to do about it???

"What are we going to do about it? What are you going to do about it? The upcoming battle will not be for the weak at heart. Truth tellers are a vanishing breed, only to be replaced by the Left peddling snake oil and lies."

Time flies when you are having a good time. Right? For example, right now it is only twenty short months until our next election. The one which will either re-elect Donald J. Trump, or give us a "country ending" socialist as President. The election which will either continue to protect our Second Amendment rights, or give us a new socialist government which will begin to disarm and confiscate. The election which will protect the lives of the unborn, or a government which will make infanticide a household word. Is the outcome of the next election out of our hands? On the contrary - it is totally within our hands. The question then remains to be asked - what are we going to do about it?

Let's face it. We have an uphill climb ahead of us. Having seminars, Tea Party Meetings, BPOU gatherings, even demonstrations at the Capitol, are very good "feel better" events. But here is the bottom line. We can feel very good about ourselves, our message, our cause - but if the other side gets one more vote than our side gets - it will be game over.

Our winning message is not falling on deaf ears. I have recently come to realize that. It is falling on "dumb ears". The early battlefield for years now has been in the classroom. We have assumed our kids were being well educated by the state, and everything was hunky dory. But things were far from hunky dory. Our kids were getting less education and much more indoctrination. Before long, they graduated knowing very few empirical facts. They did however learn our country was founded on white privilege and genocide. Nothing about true freedom, liberty, and how we got to where we are today. Only lies.

In the minds of those corroded by the Left, it is our message which is corrupt. It is out of touch. Our American history, the true history of this country, is looked upon only as a fable. Other countries like Sweden, Norway and Denmark are viewed as socialist utopias, where freedom means the freedom not to work should you decide not to. The New Green Deal  which is being supported by some on the Left, will put us on that same plateau. 

And here is where the "dumb ears" take over. Conservatives only promise real liberty and equal opportunity - the socialist democrats promise everything else will be given to you - free of charge. The "dumb ears" love hearing that message.

That is the playing field folks. For the next 20 months, the challenge will be to come up with a strategy in how to win in such a slanted game. The deck is stacked against the good guys, and the other side is now smelling a kill shot. Seriously - if Hillary had won the election, the kill shot would have already been taken.

What are we going to do about it? What are you going to do about it? The upcoming battle will not be for the weak at heart. Truth tellers are a vanishing breed, only to be replaced by the Left, peddling more snake oil and vile lies.

I wish I knew the answer, but I do not. And the time grows short to come up with one. Twenty months and counting. Tick, tock, tick, tock...
