"All we can do right now is wait and pray. Wait for January 20, 2025, and pray our enemies don't try and take advantage of this lapse of leadership we are experiencing. But we are still in December right now. We still have the glory of Christmas to celebrate."
Ask any native Minnesotan, and he or she might tell you the same thing. January seems to take forever to get through. Christmas decorations have come down, and everything outside has gone back to its unicolor - drab grey. Parties are over, it is back to work for the working class, and blah, blah, blah. If not for playoff football, the entire season of January could be labeled as disaster zone. But this year it will be even different. Even (it seems) - it will be longer.
Why am I saying this? We had a huge "high" in November with the election of a new crew. New crew being Donald Trump as POTUS, a new friendly Senate, and barely keeping a somewhat friendly House. The new "crew" will not totally take over for another 28 days. The new House and Senate will take over in a scant 11 days.
But here is the gig folks (as the old expression goes) - for the next 28 days, we are a ship without a captain. Donald Trump is doing as much as he can (without being sworn in as POTUS), but technically, we don't really have a president right now. We are a ship without a rudder. Actually, the more we find out, we have not had a fully functioning president for some time now. Wait - what? Was not Joe Biden running for re-election just a short time ago? Yes - scary, isn't it?
The presidency of Joe Biden will be one which will be talked about for some time. Not only will he go down in history as one of the worse (maybe the worst), but he will also be known for his "quietly quitting". Checking out. Taking a pass. Meanwhile, I am somewhat unsettled with all the strangeness going on in our country right now. With no real government right now, these times are unsettling to say the least.
All we can do right now is wait and pray. Wait for January 20, 2025, and pray our enemies don't try and take advantage of this lapse of leadership we are experiencing. But we are still in December right now. We still have the glory of Christmas to celebrate. December is always good. And January? We will deal with January after New Year's Eve.
