"The graphic above is taken from a street in Detroit. Another big, blue city. When I was a boy, Detroit was a showcase city. Our leaders would take leaders from other countries into Detroit to show them how the American dream looked and acted. Today, Detroit is a hollowed-out mess. Much of the city is a slum."
Ever noticed that America has some top-notch governors and mayors? Good things happen, costs go down, living standards go up, crime is in check. I could go on and on, but I will just use the old cliche - "This is a city (or state) which works". If you live in a city or state like that, thank your lucky stars. Or better yet, thank an informed electorate who knows how to vote. Wait - why are not all cities and states like that? Why are some so bad? And keep being bad? Now you have asked the golden question.
I have asked these questions many times before. If you live in a sub-standard city or state, please don't blame the incompetent leaders who were elected. They are only opportunists. Who then, is to blame for bad city or state government? Undereducated, uneducated, or unaware voters. And they will vote for bad government over and over and over again. By the same token, many states and cities in America are run by good to great people who have been elected by educated and informed voters. Hint: Minnesota is NOT one of those states. Minneapolis is NOT one of those cities. We are the worst of the worst.
The same is true for national elections. This past election, we elected somebody who hovered between asleep and awake. Between being a Walter Middy and someone who was stone cold clueless. But how in the world could an advanced country like ours elect somebody who was so out to lunch? Big blue cities, run by faux leaders, inhabited by monolithic voters. It really is as simple as that. People who live outstate tend to vote with the country in mind; those who live in the big, blue cities vote on lies and empty promises made by dishonest people. How often does this happen? Over and over and over again.
Our current president is reshaping America. Making it better. Richer. Safer. All the metrics are currently pointing north. But the city dwellers who live in the big, blue cities, hate this man who is doing so much good for the country. Why? The "leaders" they elected, tell them to hate this man. Only vote for people who bet against America. How in the world did some of our people develop this backward thinking? How they could back someone who badmouths this great country? Who want to see us lead from behind? Who want to see us weakened? Please don't ask me - for to me, this continues to be a great mystery.
Ladies and gentlemen, it all starts with the cities. The counties. The school boards. We need to elect people who are not ideologues. People who love this county, city, state and country. People who love God, and don't hate or boo him at conventions. Once people who live in this great country start voting from an informed platform, once God and country are put first in their votes, that is when our big, blue cities and states will turn around.
One final note. The graphic above is taken from a street in Detroit. Another big, blue city. When I was a boy, Detroit was a showcase city. Our leaders would take leaders from other countries into Detroit to show them how the American dream looked and acted. Today, Detroit is a hollowed-out mess. Much of the city is a slum. Why? People not voting for the right people. It really is as simple as that.
