And what is our President doing in response to this breach in our national security? Acting like a mouse.
No, this is not about the Steinbeck novel. Although I have to admit I have read most of his writings. And I love them. I am going to borrow this title however to talk about today. Not the tale of George and Lennie, rather it is the story of today with a different script. There are many mice out there today, but not too many men. And things are getting scarey. Really, really scarey.
I was listening to something on the news recently and the subject was our southern border. How it was still a sieve. The person on the news show said money allocated for the fence had already been already been spent. And hundreds, maybe thousands of miles of border still lie unprotected. In fact, in some areas our border simply evaporates into almost a nothingness. And what is our President doing in response to this major breach in our national security? Nothing. He is acting like a mouse.
One of our nation's recently retired generals was on a news show recently. He said this nation is in grave danger. We are in danger from North Korea, to Iran, to the Islamic State (and let us not forget Russia and China). Again, what is our President doing to stem the tide? Not much. Rather than acting like a man (or a lion), he is waiting for something bad to happen. And if we continue to do nothing, something bad might come to pass.
I am sick to death of third world dictators telling us they are going to nuke us. And yet, we say nothing in return. How about telling them about the retaliatory power of just one D-4 Trident submarine? How that boat can lay waste to their country. How about a Reagan type response? So that we can cause them to quake in their boots rather than us doing the same. Can for a change be men instead of mice?
You wonder why Donald Trump is doing so well in the polls. Love him or other wise, he is not considered a mouse. Neither is Ted Cruz. The American people are tired of "more of the same". Bernie Sanders and Hillary would take us down a much steeper slope. But this is the time we need to show bullies we will not be bullied any more. No more kicking sand in our face. No more, no more.
Of mice and men. Are we going to show the world we are mice (as in the past 7 years) or now men. I know what my vote is. We just can't take another 8 years of being mice.
