"The grass is always greener on the other side of the septic tank. And Minnesota is sure becoming a big septic tank."
All eyes will be on Wisconsin today. And why not? It is the epicenter for politics in the nation. For this one day. Ever since the election of Governor Scott Walker, many Minnesotans still look eastward with longing and jealous eyes. Better taxes, more freedoms, and (ready for this) - Voter ID! What is there not to love?
According to some of my sources, Wisconsin is still not a perfect state. It is considered a high tax state. That being said, to paraphrase the late, great Erma Bombeck, the grass is always greener on the other side of the septic tank. And Minnesota has sure become a big septic tank. Not a good place (especially Minneapolis) to live anymore.
There was some buzz this morning on one of the cable stations about the Wisconsin Voter ID law. As I am listening to the back and forth between pro and con, I wondered - how did this (photo ID) get to be so controversial in the first place? Why did the high courts feel compelled to get involved? Why not get involved with the DMV when they ask for a photo ID? Or the TSA when getting on a plane? Or any of the hundreds of other places which require a photo ID for proof?
For many on the Loony Left, requiring a photo ID is racist. Huh? And why is that? States have bent over backwards to help folks get a photo ID. Many are free. Some even offer free transportation to where someone can get a photo ID. Then one might ask, why do states require a photo ID? As sad as it is, voter fraud. Now photo ID will not eliminate all of voter fraud. But it will sure make it harder.
So I say this as a very jealous Minnesotan, ON WISCONSIN! Better taxes and better voting. I would trade Governors with Wisconsin in a New York (or Wisconsin) minute. That might cause me to stay here. In fact, now that I am in retirement, I considering a move out of this state - maybe even across the border. Why? Because this state, Minnesota, HATES businesses and seniors. And that alone could cause me to change from a Gopher to a Badger.
