Union Joe

Sure, is nice to have a "Union Guy" as our president. How do I know Biden is a "Union Guy"? Besides him blabbing that nonsense all the time, his happy and gay press secretary does it also. "Look, this president comes down on the side of union working families. He is a "Union Guy".

Now, I have never been a "Union Guy" nor have I ever negotiated union contracts. I have however, negotiated just about everything else under the sun. Why bring that up? A good negotiation is where both sides feel satisfied with the outcome - yet challenged. A poor negotiation is where you have a giant union like the UAW go out on strike now for forty days.

Last night the Vikings were on MNF, which is good, since there is nothing else to watch anymore. Why not? The writers and actors are still out on strike. In fact, they are not even talking right now. So, with Union Joe as our president, soon we will not be able to buy a car, and not watch anything on TV.

Will the UAW give up on their strike against the big three auto makers? Not likely and not soon. The union may be hourly workers, but they are not stupid. They know their days are numbered once the car manufacturers start making the EVs as their car of choice. Everything on an EV will cost more, except the touch labor. And why is that? It is estimated the labor content will be 30% less. Less labor, less jobs - DUH!

Back to the Actors Guild for a moment. Their big issue is AI. Having a fabricated computed image take their spot in commercials and extras. Watching a show on YouTube yesterday, Ray Kurzweil (the noted futurist) was discussing the coming technical singularity. He thought it could be here as soon as 2045. Why is that important? Because many think AI will take over many professions, the least of which will be actors. AI will be in everything we do. Should the actors be concerned about AI? Dang right! Is there something they can do to stop it? Absolutely not!

At one time, the unions were concerned their jobs would be outsourced. That was a valid concern. Today, many union types are worried they will be replaced by automation. That is much more of a valid concern. And where does Union Joe fit into this discussion? He does not. Unions, and those who support them, are about to go the way of the Dodo Bird. Sorry - it just is what it is.

  1. It's to be hoped that the next administration will destroy those idiotic EV mandates.
