Learning and then earning - the great divide

"The days of having too many in the cart with too few hands pulling the cart need to be over. I would like our young people to look at over achievers like Elon Musk not as some kind of deity, but rather as a role model. Why? Elon is going to change our world. And beyond our world."

There is no doubt that the good old USA has some fantastic people living here. And what we don't have (from the realm of fantastic), we invited to (legally) come over and be a part of us. We have some young people who have been blessed to come from good, solid families, go to normal government schools (not failure factories), and then go on to get a great technical education. By the same token, we have many who come from dysfunctional homes, go to the worst of the worst in government education, and either drop out, or worse - prior to finishing adulting.

Now, I will be the first to admit I have worked with some very intelligent achievers in my career. I have also worked with some educated idiots. But here is one of the things I love about this great country. I have seen this time and time again. We have lots and lots of areas of employment where the field is even and level. For those who like to achieve, the opportunity is there. For those who like to overachieve, the chance for a great career with the financial rewards which come with it - are also there. For those super overachievers (like Elon Musk) - the sky is the limit. Literally and figuratively.

Here is my concern right now. Finishing out the new "roaring twenties", and then onward to 2030 and beyond, the employment landscape will look like it has never looked before. For those young people who have "thrown in the towel", I am afraid for them. They will be strangers in a strange land. However, for those young folks who have a thirst for learning and a burning desire to be a part of this new dawning of America - good things wait for them.

I will say this - If we, as a society, want to keep our education failure factories in place, churning out more and more failed students, then we as a country, will suffer. We need to pull the plug on government schools. Let me repeat that. We need to pull the plug on government schools. Why? Many of them are killing out young folks. We need a reclama. Total "do over" in education.

If we want to be a great country, stay a great country, we need "all hands-on deck". The days of having too many in the cart with too few hands pulling the cart need to be over. I would like our young people to look at over achievers like Elon Musk not as some kind of deity, but rather as a role model. Why? Elon is going to change our world. And beyond our world. Elon is just an ordinary guy who dreams big and then has the tenacity to go do big. That is the attitude which has made America great in the past. And it will in the future.
