"The time to fix the sanctuary issue should be concurrent with fixing the "dreamer" issue, chain migration, visa lottery, and of course - the wall. Get to it Congress. The clock is ticking."
The other day, an official from the Justice Department (I did not catch his name as I turned the TV on too late), was having a presser discussing the MS 13 gang issue. He in not uncertain terms, spelled out this gang issue for what it is, and where it is in our country. It was pretty scary.
They come in with the rest of the illegals and immediately "set up shop". Since they are a trans-national gang with many affiliates, the new arrivals are soon connected into the web. What can be done about this problem? Turns out, not much if you live in the wrong city.
This morning on the news, it was reported that ICE and the NYC cops are going toe to toe over apprehending illegals. It seems that ICE forgot that Comrade de Blasio (the east coast's version of "Moonbeam") had to remind the NYC PC that his city is a "sanctuary city", and therefore "hands off" to the feds. NYC is a safe harbor where the lawless come for R+R, with no worry about the law. In Long Island alone, the Justice Department believes there to be almost 800 MS 13 gang members.
MS 13 is the most common gang. However, there are more gangs - many more. This is like a dream come true for them. As bad as NYC is, it is far worse in California. The entire state has been deemed to be "sanctuary" by Moonbeam. One might wonder how this works. How can you harbor a federal fugitive in a state? Which law trumps the other law?
I think this thing is coming to a head sooner rather than later. Murder after murder that illegals are committing on legal citizens have reached the tipping point. And now we have a President who feels as strongly about getting control over this situation, as Moonbeam does keeping it out of control.
How will this end? Maybe by federalizing the National Guard in sanctuary cities or states. Maybe by arresting Mayors or Governors. We are either a nation of laws, or we are not. My feeling? ANYONE who is here illegally, should be immediately deported (sans the "dreamers"). Once deported, should that fence hopper be caught again, it is five years in a federal pen and then deported again. The time after that, 10 years. Obama's "catch and release" program has worked about as well as a screen door on a submarine.
This issue is far from over. In fact, I think in the next few weeks it will heat up quite a bit. Immigration discussions are going to be front and center in the Congress now that the two year budget has been agreed to. That is, it they don't screw up the appropriations in the next six weeks.
The time to fix the sanctuary issue should be concurrent with fixing the "dreamer" issue, chain migration, visa lottery, and of course - the wall. Get to it Congress. The clock is ticking.
Look into the Goodlatte bill. I think you will like it. Whether it stands a snowball's chance of passage, I don't know. Probably because it seems too common sense.
ReplyDeleteJust read the summary of the bill on his website. Looks legit. Why can't a GOP majority pass such a well thought piece of legislation?
DeleteOnly the federal government has the authority and jurisdiction to deport people and enforce our nation's immigration laws. State and local law enforcement officials, including sheriffs, have no authority to enforce immigration laws. Sheriffs should assist ICE and other federal agencies to the extent permitted by law. But we must not be asked, or in this case expected, to act outside the confines of the law and risk civil liability and financial penalties, which are ultimately paid for by the taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteI know you folks don't like him, but Rand Paul believed it was entirely appropriate — even necessary — to cause some pain in order to call attention to what he believes is a monstrosity of a bill. He also wanted to highlight the broken process: congressional leaders in both parties dropping a massive and expensive 652-page bill just over 24 hours before the shutdown deadline. Right up there with Pelosi stating we'll read the ACA bill after we pass it during Obama tenure. Sheep, the whole bunch of them, both sides of aisle. I wouldn't hire any one of them to mow my lawn.
ReplyDeleteWhen 45 was elected president, it quickly became obvious that the traditional national-security briefing a person in his position receives daily would be well beyond his zone of "proximal development".
ReplyDeleteThe briefings were slimmed down in length, chopped up into easy-to-digest bullet points, and decorated with lots of graphs and pictures. Alas, even the kiddie version of the presidential brief has proven too challenging. Now, 45 gets his briefing verbally.
45 does not receive his verbal briefing daily, but instead about every two to three days on average in recent months, typically around 11 a.m.
That’s when “executive time” ends and 45 has to turn off Fox News to listen to officials for a while, before he gets more screen time later in the day.
I would think 45 could eliminate the useless intelligence departments and use the money for the southern border wall. His briefings could come from "Fox and Friends" who he trusts more than the CIA, NSA, etc.
45 has set up a legal defense fund for his White House that gives Russians and other illegal donors the ability to cover his legal fees.
ReplyDelete45's legal defense fund is actually a political organization.
45 didn’t set up the Patriot Fund as traditional legal defense fund.
45’s Patriot Fund is a political organization that is set up as an LLC, which is a lush garden of legal formalities that conceal the fund’s minimal consideration of ethical safeguards.
No firewall prevents the president from bending the manager’s ear about who should or shouldn’t receive the fund’s largesse.
Nor is the manager required to seek any guidance from ethics officials to determine if donations come from prohibited sources.
Donors are not vetted, but it is all done on the honor system. In other words, Russians could funnel money into the legal defense fund for 45 and his White House and are there no firewalls in place to stop them.
This isn’t a bug, but a feature. 45 intentionally set up a legal defense fund that he can manipulate, control, and take money from any source.
45 is turning legal defense into graft!
45 has gone so far as to use his legal defense as a source of potential personal profit.
Remember, 45 has created a lawless defense fund.
There is nothing stopping the president from raiding his defense fund for his personal bank account or campaign spending.
There is a systematic pattern of corruption and the undermining of ethical practices in this White House, but few are as blatantly egregious as the legal defense fund that Russia can pay for.
Boy, his lawyers are smarter than Congress, the American people and the deplorables who support such sh.t
I seriously doubt, after the hardball Trump has been playing with the Russians, that they are inclined to give him anything they don't have to. It just doesn't make sense to keep this Russia narrative when there is no evidence to support it and a YUGE amount of evidence that it was Democrats working with the Russians.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so either, but just a symptom of the diseased state of 45, the White House and it's occupants. Lawyer-ed up and preparing to snooker the American people when the inevitable ax falls on 45 or members of his family.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't being paranoid when everybody is out to get you.
ReplyDeleteSurely this constant hyperpartisan hysteria, silly speculative sniping and outrageous obstruction cannot be what is good for TAP-- "The American People."
And another "fine" person bites the dust!
ReplyDeletePence must have been worried that Kim Yo Jong would seduce him if he turned around and acknowledged her presence. Very classy, NOT
ReplyDeleteWho?
ReplyDeleteNow I see the President of So. K. has been invited to No. K for "talks." Don't go! You'll get the "brother treatment."
