"Now we have one helluva mess on our hands. The genie is out of the bottle, and I don't know how we will get it back in. Maybe we need to start enforcing the law like Judge Roy Bean."
Many times in the past few months, when I wake up in the morning and turn on the news, I feel like I am still dreaming. After living through many normal years in my life, having a year this abnormal seems like a dream - and a bad dream at that. It was bad enough, to find out our lifestyles were about to go topsy turvy, compliments of the Wuhan flu. But this social unrest thing really came out of left field. Totally unexpected - and yet it shouldn't have been unexpected at all. Why is that? As a society, we have spared the rod way too long. Now we have thousands of spoiled children, laying waste to our cities.
Portland, Oregon is in day seventy something of social unrest. I mean rioting. The social unrest thing went out the window weeks ago. Now it is bad people acting badly. Acting criminally. This is the crescendo of years of bad decisions made by our state governments. How so?
One example is Chicago. Kim Foxx, the DA in Chicago, has done a most amazing thing for a law enforcement official. When the riots first hit Chicago, she allowed 25,000 people go without being prosecuted. Infractions ranging all the way from jaywalking, to B+E, to disorderly conduct, to serious felonies. Now these reprobates are back, doing the same kinds of crap they have done before. And why not? Nothing will happen to them. Not with Kim Foxx in charge.
Antifa has also upped their game in their war against the cops. Now besides wearing protective gear, helmets and gas masks, they are carrying bats bristling with nails, lasers powerful enough to blind, and "mortars" to launch fireworks at police. Some are looting and rioting for the hell of it - others are looting as they feel it is the first step in reparations. Meanwhile, the city leaders of these big blue cities, the mayors, the governors - do and say very little. That is, unless they are telling the President to butt out.
Last night, the Seattle City Council voted to defund the police department by 14%. Only one person voted against it. Why? Because that person thought it was a dumb idea? Nope - that person wanted a 50% cut. Part of the 14% cut was in the salary of the police chief. So she resigned - effective September 2nd. The President again is telling these Democrat run cities to get their poop in a group. If this carnage continues, he WILL send in the National Guard.
When I was growing up, I developed a respect and fear for all police. I did NOT want to get sideways of the law. Today however, is a different story for many of our wayward youth. They don't give a tinker's damn. They have zero fear nor respect for any law enforcement. If fact, they have developed such an antipathy for them, they will do what they can to injure them - badly.
Like I said, this stew has taken years to make. We have nobody to blame but us. We elect morons to lead us who look at our Constitution with disdain and disinterest. We have elected school board members who have turned our once fine education system into nothing more than an indoctrination gulag. Our universities and colleges have become expensive cesspools of Marxism and socialist ideals. The fact that we have spared the rod and allowed our children to become this spoiled, this ruthless, should shock none of us.
Now we have one helluva mess on our hands. The genie is out of the bottle, and I don't know how we will get it back in. Maybe we need to start enforcing the law like Judge Roy Bean. It would cost a few rioters their lives, but it might have to come to that. If we don't do something quickly, this contagion will cost us, and cost us dearly. We will lose the helm. When that happens, we will be in a real war, with real bullets. With no police anymore to enforce the law, it will just be us against them - good vs bad.
My family & associates are relatively well prepared for that. I suspect these urban butt nuggets aren't.
