"It has many officers within it, who are the best of the best. It is tough job. A dangerous job. So, do we really need a new Police Chief? Nope - but we sure need a new Commander-in-Chief."
The Chief of Police in Minneapolis is Medaria Arradondo. He is a good man. He is a black man. He is a very kind man. I have met him. I think Minneapolis lucked out getting a guy like Chief Arradondo to run the joint. That being said, he has to go. Even thought he has done a good job in tough circumstances, the failed nominee to the Supreme Court, and now our AG (Merrick Garland), is investigating the MPD for something like "systemic racism" (whatever that is). Never mind the Chief is black, and his predecessor was openly gay - this department has got to change and get with the times!
In fact, all over the country right now, a small, yet very vocal minority of folks, are crying to have police either defunded or just plain gone. Take what happened in Columbus, Ohio. There was a situation which was much different from the one which took place in Brooklyn Center, MN. In Ohio, there was no confusion between a sidearm and a taser. A cop was called to a fight between two factions of young black folk. One had a knife. Instantly after the cop arrived, the fight went from bad to worse. The cop had to shoot a young black woman before she killed another young black women with a knife.
The shooting of a 20 year old black man in Brooklyn Center was an unfortunate accident. The shooting of a young black woman in Ohio was necessary, in order to save a life. However, for the chattering class, both of these killings of young black folk were racist. Okay - I will bite. If at any time, there needs to be police action with people of color, that leaves only one solution. Back off. Stand down. Do nothing. To do something, would open a law enforcement individual up for possible charges. Or investigation by the AG of the United States.
Here is my solution. We need new police chiefs in each and every big blue city. Their job is to ensure that only certain communities get policed, and others get left alone. It became obvious this past year, that police were persona non grata in areas like "autonomous zones". Some areas just don't want cops around. The young socialists who live in "autonomous zones", prefer to do their own policing. Fine. Good luck with that.
One more thing. Police unions. They need to be more like the teacher unions. They need to focus on much, much, more on self interest items. Police have been too unselfish in the past. Too noble. The focus should be like the teacher unions have. For example, the teacher unions were so self involved this past year, they let tens of thousands of students sink into the quagmire of distance learning. They did not care.
Who do I point the finger at right now? Eastward, towards Washington DC. In particular, Obama's puppet. By the way, there is nothing wrong with our law enforcement. It has many officers within it, who are the best of the best. It is tough job. A dangerous job. So, do we really need a new Police Chief? Nope - but we sure need a new Commander-in-Chief.
