Rocket Man returns!!!

"What is up with these Commies? Why can't they behave? Why do the people of North Korea settle for living in the stone ages? Why to the citizens of Russia settle for being canon fodder for Putin?"

Some might wonder, what is wrong with this guy? Who? Putin? The guy who wants to start World War III? Nope. I am talking about the nut ball from North Korea. Kim Jong-um. Better known as (thanks Donald Trump for this one) - "Rocket Man". To fly a missile, capable of carrying a nuke, over another country, is chilling. So chilling, that the civil defense sirens went off in Japan.

If Rocket Man had any smarts inside that odd looking melon, rather than being a moron, he could take a lesson from what is happening in Russia. Russia, the "Bear", decided to poke another bear - the country which he had a distinct advantage over. Russia had a bigger army, better weapons, yadda, yadda, yadda. But what Russia did not count on, was the size of the heart in the country he invaded. And now he is getting his butt handed to him in the eastern part of Ukraine. And the body bags containing dead Russians, are piling up. 

Here is the lesson that "Rocket Man" is missing. If you decide to screw with another country, you better make sure they are ready to be conquered. Otherwise, you will end up with a tiger by the tail. And besides having heart for their homeland, Japan has one important thing which North Korea does not have - money. They are a first world country whereas North Korea still lives in the past - long ago in the past.

The United States is ready for whatever China and/or North Korea has to offer. Our big air base in Guam (Anderson), keeps getting more and more fortified against any missile attacks. In fact, we just put some THAAD batteries over there. But even though Anderson is the base the ChiComs worry about the most in the WestPac, we also have Kadena in Okinawa, as well as other assets in Japan and Alaska. 

But Japan is not sitting by, just waiting. The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) is actually looking quite robust these days. 155 ships, including two AEGIS ships. In addition, Japan also has a 5th generation fighter jet. And here is the big plus - they are working on having a 6th generation fighter by the early to mid 2030's. In other words, Japan is not standing still. 

There is one more thing. We are bound by treaty to protect 67 other countries (including our NATO allies). One of those countries is Japan. South Korea and the Philippines are also in that mix. As are Australia and New Zealand. What is my point here? It is nice that Japan is hardening up their defenses against North Korea, but their trump card is - us. If a North Korean missile ever landed on Japan, the Norks would have not only Japan to deal with, but also the United States.

As Reagan said, American needs to show the rest of the world we are the "shining city on the hill". Are we still the good guys for the world? Yea, we are. Like it or not, we are.
