Southern Invasion!

"Bravo to you Mr. President. For finally leading from the front instead of far, far behind like other past President(s) have done."

When the kids were younger, I would often tell them to know who their true friends and allies were - and who were not. The ones who were not, I advised to keep a safe distance from. Be wary of them.

I think our President knows that rule quite well. He has really been taking Mexico to task as of late on immigration. Why? He is really beginning to wonder if they are honest brokers. True friends and a good neighbor. Are they with us, or against us.

Many of us have heard what is happening right now in central Mexico. A group of over a thousand people from Honduras have been let across the southern border of Mexico and are being given safe passage as they travel north. For what reason one might ask? To basically walk across the Rio Grande River and get into the United States. Once here, they will demand refugee status. And since the UN cannot get that country under control, all this feckless organization can do is declare fleeing people to be refugees.

That is the trap. With their refugee status, we cannot catch and deport. We have to let them stay and then give them a court date where they can plead their case in front of an immigration judge. Sound fair, right? Not really. In the past, many who have made it this far and been given a court date, "disappear". Where to? Hello, sanctuary cities.

Some might wonder why Mexico is allowing this. Join the club, as I am sure scratching my head. My feeling is this - if these folks make it as far as our border, I want Trump to lower the boom on Mexico. Hit them where it hurts. Where is that? Tourism. Deny all travel to Mexico for one year. Show Mexico we are damn serious about this out of control fence hopping, of which they are complicit.

Here it is folks. Where the rubber meets the road. Mexico is only out for Mexico. NAFTA has been a joke. Mexico has turned into the Columbia of the 2010's. The drug traffic and drug wars are epidemic in Mexico. Either Mexico wants to live in the 21st century and be an honest broker to us, or we will build the wall, stop all trade and travel, and wish them good luck. We have been patsies way too long.

Bravo to you Mr. President. For finally leading from the front instead of far, far behind like other past President(s) have done.

  1. There may be better ways than stopping tourism outright. A strong State Department advisory would be a start. A wall would be a necessity, and calling it a "national security expense" should get it built quickly. Meanwhile, a national guard at the border, and a heavy tax (say 50%) on remittances to Mexico (without proof of citizenship) would help pay for it, as well as sending the message.

  2. The intensity of both of your vitriolic hatred of all things non-white knows no bounds. I guess the homily Sunday didn't strike a single fiber within your cold cold hearts.
I'm sure you know April 3rd is "Punish a Muslim" Day in the U.S. and U.K. Enjoy your celebrations, whatever that might entail.

    1. 20 shots fired on a campus employing armed security guards! Wonder if they had their "Gun Free Zone" signs prominently displayed?

You are insulting, as well as completely ignorant of whom you are describing. I helped with an after-school program at a downtown church for about a year. They taught GED, marketable skills, helped with homework, etc. One day the pastor called me and asked if I could take pictures of their graduating class, about 20 kids, and I was happy to do it. It was only when I got the pictures back that I was amazed to see that every one of these Hispanic kids had dark eyes, hair and skin!

And isn't it amazing that people who cannot logically defend their positions fall so quickly into ad hominem attacks?

    1. My apologies to both of you. It was my insensitive equivalent of a weekend tweet storm.

    2. Hopefully you will recognize the symptoms of the disease that has so sullied "civil discourse" of late. Hint: I long ago looked askance at any posting I made that contained the word "you." Sometimes OK; often not.

    3. Good suggestion!
I not only recognize the symptoms, but I know the source of my disease and the knowledge that a cure is not readily available exacerbates my symptoms.

  5. Hmmm... the source of your disease? It is not obvious to me; you must be fighting it off.
