Scarce Republicans

"Here is an open response to those letter writers. So long as Minneapolis stays a 'sanctuary city', with sky high taxes, and suffocating regulations, conservatives will not live there."

Whether it is hard copy or soft copy, I read the local newspaper every day. I know - sometimes I need to plug my nose when I read it. I really thought that after Glen Taylor bought the paper it would swing a bit more to the middle. My mistake. In any event, I like to read the letters to the editor and the letters to the editor. This morning, there were a couple of doozies.

The letters I am talking about were in response to an article the paper had published last week. That article was about how far left the City of Minneapolis had become. So far left, that many of the Leftists from yesteryear are on the verge of being voted out by the "super progressives".

Anyhow, both these letters bemoaned the fact that Minneapolis was now devoid of any Republicans. ALL elected officials in the Heart of the Beast are either blue or dark blue. This last year, a very good and accomplished man named Frank Drake (who still lives in the city), ran against the sitting Congressman, Keith Ellison. Frank lost badly. Two years ago, Doug Dagget, another fine man, ran against Ellison. He too, got smoked badly. Two years before that, it was Chris Fields. And why did these three fine men get smoked so badly? Most of the conservatives have gotten out of Dodge. In other words, they left town for redder pastures.

Back to the letters. Both of them thought having a one party system in Minneapolis was a bad idea. One of them said, he would not mind some more Republicans, so long as they were not nut balls like the Tea Party types. Translation = RINOs are okay, but no Constitutional types please!

Here is an open response to those letter writers. So long as Minneapolis stays a "sanctuary city", with sky high taxes, and suffocating regulations, conservatives will not live there. It would like be putting a fish out in the desert. No, Minneapolis is yours folks. We have ceded it. We are ashamed of it. And we are not coming back until Minneapolis somewhat resembles the town it once was.

One of the writers asked if Republicans were in hiding. Like, where are they? Gone, sir. Gone with the wind. If you want conservatives back in the city, change the city. Until then, get used to the color blue.
