"Get ready folks. This is going to be an all hands on deck. Don't think for a minute the Blue Team is going to give up easy. They like having you as subjects. The thought of you being treated as citizens once again by a grass roots government is more than they can stand."
I know this is sound like a cliche. But I will say it anyhow. After being up in Duluth for the first half of the weekend as a delegate, I would love to share my observations. Maybe I was a bit hasty to call out the problems which occurred in the Friday night opening. So now that I am home, let me address the glass which is half (or more) full instead.
Can I first say this? Phil Parrish (a Navy LCDR brother), and Mary Giuliani Stephens (who I have grown to know, respect, and like) are nothing but a class acts. Both of them. They fought tooth and nail to win the endorsement, but wanted to unite the party once the convention was over. When it became clear that this time around it was going to be Jeff Johnson's race, they both bowed out at the right time. They then endorsed a united RED team behind Jeff Johnson.
This was my most interesting convention. Like I said, I REALLY LIKED the people Jeff was running against. Phil, Mary, as well as their teams. Most who I met were high caliber, faith driven folks. I am SO looking forward to working with our expanded team going into August and beyond.
The crop of candidates which will turn MN RED this November, is deep and wide. We have the opportunity to pick up Congressional Districts 1, 7, and 8 as well as keeping 2, 3, and 6. Not an outside chance - a real good chance. It has been many a year since Minnesota has had a RED congressional majority. Plus (and this is a big one), we have two REAL fighters this year going after Hotdish Amy and Planned Parenthood Tina. No more tepid campaigns like in the past - this time the fight is going to be all the way to the mat.
We have probably the most qualified people going to Attorney General and State Auditor I have seen in my lifetime. Doug Wardlow and Pam Myhra will set this state on fire with the positive changes they will make in these two constitutional offices. I know both of them. Rock solid, people of integrity and faith. The team of Governor Johnson, AG Wardlow, and State Auditor Myhra is going to be something to behold.
What is 2019 going to be for Minnesota? A new beginning. We keep the House, pick up the empty seat in the Senate, take the Governor's seat and the Constitutional offices, we will be able to take the exit sign off of Minnesota and replace it with the "Open for business" sign. The only reason seniors will want to leave Minnesota will be for the weather - not because they are getting their socks taxed off of them.
Get ready folks. This is going to be an all hands on deck. Don't think for a minute the Blue Team is going to give up easy. They like having you as subjects. The thought of you being treated as citizens once again by a grass roots, constitutional state government is more than they can stand. As my friend (and future Lt. Governor) Donna Bergstrom likes to say - "Let's do this!"
