One nation? Under God?

"Is there any way to bring these two tribes back together? I am not optimistic that we can. We might just end up being like the Montagues and the Capulets. Or the Hatfield's and the McCoy's. Division replacing unity, hate replacing love."

By now, the buzz is starting to quiet down a bit. Our President, looking more like Satan than a President, dressed down half the country the other night. Okay. We bad. We liked the Orange Man better than Slo Joe. But there was a huge take away in this most dire, perturbing and disquieting address to the nation. Our national motto, e pluribus unum, might be dead forever. We have become tribal. #FACT!

Tolerance has been replaced with hatred. Truthfully, in my adult life, I have never seen such seething hatred towards an individual, as I have seen in this anti-Trump crowd. They not only wanted to see him defeated politically, but also ruined.

Seeing what is happening to Donald Trump reminds me a bit of what happened to Sir William Wallace in merry old England. He was so reviled, so hated, that his death was the most gruesome which could be concocted back then. He was whipped, dragged by horses, castrated, hung, disemboweled, decapitated, and then quartered. His body was then taken to four different areas of England, to be put on display. The haters back then, just could not kill Wallace enough.

We are now two counties living in one nation. We are tribes. One tribe, consists of progressives. Those who think this country needs a remake. A reset. For many on this side, their god is Washington, and their church is government. Authoritarian leadership is just fine with them. Equity has replace equality, and Robin Hood means the Sheriff (government), not Robin Hood, takes from the rich and gives to the poor.

The other tribe is made up of mostly conservatives. Those who don't hate Donald Trump, but on the contrary, think he did a good job leading this country. His fatal flaw was taking on the Deep State and not finishing the job. Trump only wounded the Deep State, and now they are coming after him with a vengeance.

Many conservatives not only believe in one Holy God, but they also love God. Conservatives believe in family, the sanctity of life, limited and accountable government, and taxation WITH representation. They know we live in a Constitutional Republic (not a democracy), and honor our sacred Constitution. They believe in peace through strength, law and order, and the Second Amendment.

One final thought. Barack Obama, during his presidency, once said that America is no longer a Christian country. That may be true for the progressives, but not for many of the conservatives. David Barton (one of the smartest historians on the planet), often addresses the topic of faith and our founders. It seems a great many of them were men of God. That our system of government was based on Judeo-Christian philosophy. I agree with Barton on this. As do many of my peers.

Is there any way to bring these two tribes back together? I am not optimistic that we can. We might just end up being like the Montagues and the Capulets. Or the Hatfield's and the McCoy's. Division replacing unity, hate replacing love.

Welcome to our new America. Don't believe me? Go to YouTube and watch our President's address to the nation from this week. You will find we are in deep do-do, and sinking fast.

  1. I have long been told that we just need to not vote for that "extreme" Republican (aka conservative-leaning), let the Democrat win, and then when people see "how bad it gets" they will happily vote Republican the "next time." We should have, by now. learned that no only does this result in TERRIBLE governance for a time, but doesn't seem to apply NEXT time, either. Nor does this magical thinking that, if I just don't vote, there will magically appear some third choice on the ballot. Y'all need to get over these two kinds of failed, muddled thinking, and just vote for every Republican, every time! It doesn't matter who it is, or how "good" the Democrat might appear; they are Democrats and will vote with other Democrats! I used to think I voted for the best candidate, but when I discovered that was ALWAYS the Republican, I joined the Party.
