Chickens coming home to roost...

"Roosting chickens. That is all we seem to have right now..."

If this was not so sad and tragic, it would almost be comical. It is not like many have not predicted it. And the astute leader of our state is flummoxed. He just does not understand how this has happened. It should not just be him however who is confused, as other states are also having the same issue. What is it? Why our new universal health coverage, the Affordable Care Act, or as most know it as ObamaCare.

I really did not know which government screw up to address today. The TSA classic fail, or the tidal wave of costs coming in the form of new health care premiums in 2016. Oh, and I could throw in the upcoming SCOTUS ruling on health care subsidies which is projected to not go well either. In any event, to quote our favorite pastor, it seems the chickens are coming home to roost.

First just a word about the TSA. So a recent audit of the TSA (an audit being trying to sneak items by the wide awake TSA agents without getting caught) showed some remarkable results. And not in the good way. The TSA scored 4%. In other words, 96% of the items the auditors tried to sneak through security, made it. How many of us would buy a toaster which only worked 4% of the time? Or a car? Or anything? The TSA agents need to be right 100% of the time. Period. If something got though (which was not a test) people could die.

Back to ObamaCare. The gift that keeps on giving to those who have hated it from the get-go. The law where when the Republicans suggested cost saving features, they were shut out by Miss Nancy. Many of the low information crowd loved it when it was being sold. Something for nothing. Free stuff. People who said there is no such thing as a free lunch were just a bunch of "haters". Turns out the "haters" were right. Costs are still way, way out of control and the insurance companies are not going to eat them. They will pass them on to the consumers. Fact of life.

Finally, not to get too deep into the weeds, the expected SCOTUS ruling in mid to late summer could be a show stopper for ObamaCare. As the ruling gets closer, you will be hearing more and more about King v. Burwell. The ruling could determine how subsidies will be handled. More on this in the near future.

Well that is it. Between the TSA and ObamaCare things are moving right along. The old saying that the government is so inept they can't even screw in a light bulb might be true. Or better yet, it is absolutely true.
