Crime and (non)punishment

"God is alive and well, and is fully aware of what is going on. However, where God is shunned, evil lurks. And anyone who does not think that it is evil which is behind our lawlessness, better wake up and smell the coffee."

Is there anyone with a beating heart in this country, who does not know we are taking a major holiday from lawfulness? That lawlessness is now stalking our land? Some are saying this all goes back to the George Floyd incident. Others say it goes back to the swearing in of the new administration. Still others say it goes back to the "beer summit" days of Barack Obama. I think it goes deeper than that. Much, much deeper. More on that in a minute.

In this mornings news, is a story about how violent the area by the University of Minnesota has become. This is an area, which is full of students at night, coming home from class, or walking to a gathering at close by location. Gunshots, violence, larceny, assaults are more common than uncommon these days. Going to the University has gone from a fun experience, to a dangerous one - in only one generation.

Also in the Mill City, is this gem. Now that pandemic is over, the MTC is trying to get the buses and trains up and running again, for full service. One problem however - before the pandemic, many bus stops and LRT stations became breeding grounds for crime. Some violent crime. They became sewers as well as breeding grounds for all sorts of crime. I wonder how they are going to police these areas with less police. I have taken MTC buses when I worked downtown. Never, ever again, will I step foot in one of those things.

In Washington, our nation's capital, there was a ballgame last night in the ballpark where the Nationals play. America's pastime, where you sit, relax, have a hot dog and a beer, and watch a ball game. Then all of a sudden - bang, bang, bang. A gun fight, between thugs riding in two cars, right outside the stadium. Bullets flying everywhere. Panic ensued. People running out of the ball park, and the game had to be suspended. Welcome to our new normal. In the city which ruined our old normal.

Back to the cause for all of this mayhem. Some will not like to hear this, but it is true. We have kicked God out of just about every corner of our lives. One of the political parties (we all know which one), has so much distain for God, they booed Him at a convention. We hear some say, "God is dead", or "God is hidden". Neither of course, is true. God is alive and well, and is fully aware of what is going on. However, where God is shunned, evil lurks. And anyone who does not think that it is evil which is behind our lawlessness, better wake up and smell the coffee.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are a nation in trouble right now. We need to get back to God. I mean, really get back to God. He has always blessed this nation richly. That could always change if we ignore God. Trust me, it can change.
