If not Trump, then who?

"President Trump, we need you sir. Now more than ever. DON'T GET COWED BY THE GUN GRABBERS! You will lose the support of the NRA and some of your base. Maybe enough to tip the next election to the socialists."

Anybody else as shell shocked as I am to hear those two words escape the President's lips? What two words? Red Flag. Those two words are music to the ears of freedom hating socialists, and are like nails on the chalkboard to Second Amendment patriots. The President, who was strongly supported by the NRA in the 2016 election, is now on very thin ice. Of course, that ice could thicken up considerably if he admitted he just misspoke. That Red Flag is a bad idea. But for right now, Red Flag is a tempest in a teapot. 

I am going to pull this thread a bit tighter now. Let's suppose, this Red Flag comment by the President was not a gaf. That he meant it. Then what? If we lose Trump, who do we support? In other words, if not Trump, then who? Have you looked at the clown car as of late? The 21 stooges who are running for President on the other side of the street? Or even Bill Weld, who for some reason had decided to challenge the President on our side of the street? None of these folks I would consider for dog catcher, much less President.

By the way, do you know who fears Red Flag laws the most? Retired cops. Discharged or retired combat vets who have PTSD. Anyone who is on meds for depression, bi-polar, anxiety, ADHD or whatever. Did I leave anyone out. Oh yes - anger management folks. Those who have a bit of a short fuse, yet would never dream of shooting anyone. All of a sudden, you have a sizable portion of the population who are candidates to have their guns seized in an asset forfeiture - and their Second Amendment rights erased. 

Once again, just like with so many other laws, Red Flag laws work very well at one thing - infringing the rights of law abiding folks. Outlaws on the other hand, Red Flag will not apply to them. Why not? Black market sales. It will be booming once we get Red Flag signed into law. And who is going to adjudicate who will have their guns seized? A Obama judge? A county DA? The county sheriff? Whom? And by whose recommendation? A doctor? A priest or pastor? Angry spouse? Leftie type neighbor who does not like the way you cut your grass?

The bottom line is this, even though I have said it a thousand times before. The solution to this spike in violence has NOTHING to do with the guns. Normal and sane people realize that. The root cause of violence is a vexing issue right now. So, we are ripe for knee jerk solutions. Like Red Flag. A move many will rue the day should it pass.
