The bleeding of America

"Come on America. We can do better than this. Bring back real policing, so the innocent folks in our large cites can live peacefully. Cops are not the enemy. The NRA is not the enemy. The President is not the enemy."

What do the numbers 9, 14, 21, 161 and 278 have in common? They are casualty numbers. 9 shot in the Dayton massacre, 14 killed in the Afghanistan war zone this year, 21 shot and killed in the El Paso massacre, 161 shot and killed in Baltimore this year, and 278 shot and killed in Chicago this year. What do these numbers not have in common? Outrage. Our outrage is indeed very selective.

The shootings in Dayton and El Paso were "one off events" - meaning, shootings like that don't happen every day in those cities. Unfortunately, causalities in a combat zone like Afghanistan will continue until the last soldier comes home. But the victims in Baltimore and Chicago - this has become "same stuff, different day". In other words, the numbers of killed in those two cities are not unique. Those cities have similar numbers each and every year. And nobody gives a damn.

I don't have the exact stats on Baltimore, but I do on Chicago. Each year, the number of people shot and killed are over 80% black. I suspect Baltimore might be similar. But here is the show stopper. Like I said, the numbers for Chicago this year are not unique. Since 1955, the numbers of people killed in Chicago has topped 45,000! That number comes close to the number of service men and women we lost during our entire time in Viet Nam. Only that was a very hot combat zone. Chicago is a city where people live.

By the way, Chicago and Baltimore are both gun free cities. It is against the law to carry an unlicensed gun in either of those two cities. Then how in the world could all of those people have been shot? Do you mean outlaws don't follow the law? What would happen if we had even more gun laws? Same result. Fact of life - outlaws live outside of the law. The only people to suffer under new gun laws would be the people who have done nothing wrong - like licenced and trained gun owners.

By the way - what ever happened to Black Lives Matter? Their credo of "every black life matters" rings hollow when they take a back seat in protesting what is happening in Chicago. And Baltimore. And many of the other large Blue cities. Plus - let's not forget what is happening at Planned Parenthood (36% of all aborted babies continue to be black).

I have said this before. What is causing these mass killings in America has a very complicated root cause. So far, nobody knows what exactly it is. We do however, know how to reach for the low fruit on the tree or hit the easy button. That would be more gun laws. We can take this knee jerk approach, but nothing would change. Mass shootings would still happen, and the every weekend carnage would continue in our large Blue cities.

Come on America. We can do better than this. Bring back real policing, so the innocent folks in our large cites can live peacefully. Cops are not the enemy. The NRA is not the enemy. The President is not the enemy. Those in the faith know who the real enemy is. Until we invite God back into the equation, the real enemy will remain hidden to most. And the killings will continue.

  1. Ah, but our friends on the left want us to believe that THEY are God, and can cure our ills "with a wave of a hand, this very hand." You can't sell real solutions in this country, because the evil ones might be offended, so simplistic non-solutions that blame somebody else are all we get.
