Minneapolis - 2030

"If you don't think this is a possible or plausible future for Minneapolis, please prove me wrong. The once fine City of the Lakes, is about to become extinct, to replaced with a collective community."

Wow! The 2020's was a most interesting decade. Here in Minneapolis, our transformation into Thrive 2040 is coming along just fine, thank you! The city has become close to 100% socialist, with all other political parties going "bye-bye". The hayseeds in "Greater Minnesota" (nice term for the dullards), keep throwing aspersions at us, but we know what we are doing. First off, we are saving the planet. Second, we are saving humankind by telling (advising) them how to live. After all, that is what Agenda 21 and Thrive 2040 is all about.

During the past ten years we came very close to getting rid of all those pesky cars in our town. We "helped" the car owners along by passing ordinance after ordinance, restricting where one could park, and how many lanes are left in a road to drive on. Plus, the speed limit is 20 mph on every road in town. Right now, we have 50% of all city streets with no driving, 40% have only one driving lane, and the remaining 10% - we are still working on. Finding a parking lot downtown is almost impossible, and street parking? Forget about it!

The density thing is also coming along. Sure there were protests, but the city managers got the courts to enforce our new way of living. Every city block has at least two fourplex units, with some blocks having many more. Single family structures have become as rare as hen's teeth, and LRT stations dot most every landscape. Sure, crime is still a problem - especially at the train stations. Ever since the city leaders have disarmed most of our police force, this crime thing has been a bug-a-boo in our tight living. But we have set aside more money for counseling and diversity training, and using fewer cops. That should help us going forward.

Going forward into the 2030's we still need to work on this gun thing. We now have the strictest gun laws this side of Chicago, but our roving gangs of youth still seem to be quite well armed. What few cops we still have who are allowed to use fire arms have their hands full, each and every weekend. Some say the guns are coming from "Greater Minnesota". If that were true, it would not be surprising at all. They do need their guns out there in the sticks. I just wish they would keep them there!

Education is also still a big problem. We have given up educating the "bottom ones". Since we have started Universal Minimal Income, the "bottom ones" really don't need an education. They can just do what they want to do - unfortunately, many times that involves a life of crime. Some of our "do gooders" think that is unfair to them. That we should still try to educate them. We might at some time, but that is a discussion for another day.

One final problem we need to work on. Our culture is changing way too rapidly for some. Why? The white kids who live and work in uptown are not having babies. Neither are the yuppies who work in the higher paid jobs downtown. The North African immigrants however, are having 4 to 6 kids per family. Experts say if this trend continues, they will be the majority race in Minneapolis by 2050. Since we have secularized the city, we have gotten rid of all the Christian churches. But those pesky mosques keep popping up all over the place.

Okay - it is still 2019. If you don't think this is a possible or plausible future for Minneapolis, please prove me wrong. The once fine City of the Lakes, is about to become extinct, to replaced with a collective community. Good luck Minneapolis - you are going to need it.

  1. And yet if such a future dystopia should arise, just as glimpses of it already appear, those fantasists will simply insist that everything is absolute goodness, just as they intended.
