"Elections have Consequences..."

"This is all hands on deck. This is every vote counts. This is where nobody stays home and takes a pass. This is repeating that one and only piece of wisdom we received from BHO - Elections have consequences."

Listen up good people of Earth. This might be the first and only time I will quote Barack Hussein Obama. So why do it now? It came up today during the Kavanaugh hearings. It was said by a Republican Senator in response to all the caterwauling done by Democrat Senators. As much as they (the Democrats) would like to re-litigate the 2016 election, and not put yet yet another conservative jurist on the Supreme Court, it ain't gonna happen. Trump is President, and Kavanaugh will be the next Associate Jurist on the Supreme Court. Now get over it.

In reality, unless some on the Red Team goes rogue, this is a done deal. All the Democrats can do is bitch and moan (which they do VERY WELL), and the butt headed protesters (paid for my Soros or Styer) screaming profanities. What good did it do? Nada. As Lindsey Graham scolded the Democrats before a break, "If you want to pick jurists, win an election."

In 2016, we won the election because the Democrats had such a defective candidate, many Democrats stayed home. The Red Team did not. After eight years of BHO, there was NO WAY the Red Team was taking the chance in getting another socialist (like Hillary) in the White House. So in that historic 2016 vote, we not only got Donald Trump as President, we also got economic recovery, and Neil Gorsuch (and now probably Brett Kavanaugh) as SCOTUS jurists.

In Minnesota, in 2010, we got Marx Dayton because many chose to vote third party - to a ex-patriot Republican named Tom Horner. However, if Republicans had voted for Emmer in the numbers they voted for Trump, Representative Emmer would now be Governor Emmer. And he would be running for his third term. But they did not, and we ended up with the Midwest's answer to Moonbeam instead.

Four years later, once the voters found out they elected a lemon, a buffoon, to govern the state. Then Jeff Johnson ran against Dayton in 2014. Clearly, Jeff was the better candidate by a parsec or two. And yet, Dayton beat Johnson by a few percentage points. How could that possibly be? Many voters stayed home. So the people of Minnesota ended up with a defective Governor, for another four years of dysfunction and malaise. What did we learn? Elections have consequences.

In November, we have once again to elect a true conservative to govern Minnesota. If we stay home like we did in 2014, the Blue Team will continue to take this state down the road to open borders, sanctuary cities, and socialist practices. However, if 1.3M patriots come out to vote for the Red Team, to vote for hope, to vote for a better Minnesota, to vote for better government at a cheaper cost, Jeff Johnson will win. Jeff, along with a Red House and Senate, will change the course for our state for years to come.

Elections have consequences folks. This election is ours to win or lose. Jeff Johnson and the rest of team have set the table. All we have to do is come for the meal (vote). Our job is not only to vote, but also to get others to do so also. A lose in November will not just be a blot - it will start a catastrophic slide into the abyss of insolvency. Don't think so? Ask Illinois, California or New York. Much of the money will leave Minnesota.

This is all hands on deck. This is every vote counts. This is where nobody stays home and takes a pass. This is repeating that one and only piece of wisdom we received from BHO - Elections have consequences.

Let's make sure in 2018 it for us opportunity and growth, and not consequences. As the old and often used saying goes - "To the victor go the spoils."

  1. Republicans have well exploited the economic and cultural fears of rural, suburban, working class America, offering a narrative that resonates with those who feel ignored. All this is true nationally, and is being played out in Minnesota as well.
While the Democratics appeal to educated urban liberals, often more affluent, who may look down on or disdain as stupid their rural and suburban counterparts, or those who are working class because they do not share their same interests or lifestyle preferences.
There is also the failure of both parties to pay attention to the class and economic concerns of white working-class America. They abandoned class for identity politics.
We'll see how it plays out. If Bird's passion and energy is passed along to enough folks, the DFL is in trouble.

  2. Speaking of the money leaving the state; people in their prime working years represent the largest portion of the net loss of taxpayers and income.
Working-age people between 35 and 54 account for nearly 40 percent of Minnesota’s net loss of tax filers for the 2013-14 period.
People between 55 and 64 — most of whom are still in the workforce — account for another 23 percent.
Many factors influence a family’s decision to move. But IRS data provides convincing evidence that show Minnesota’s high taxes are indeed one of those factors.
With only a few exceptions, Minnesota is losing income to lower-tax states to the West and the South, such as Arizona, Colorado, Florida, South Dakota, Texas and Washington.
Minnesota tends to gain income from higher-tax states in the Midwest and Northeast.
Notably, five of the states we move to have no state income tax.
I couldn't find any newer IRS data, but I would guess recent years haven't been significantly different.
Will JJ be able to stem the tide? Let's hope so. But it could be years before the trend reverses.
