"One final thing. Do you know who really likes Tim Walz, and believes all this crap he is promising? The folks who pay no income tax. No skin in the game. They like this Pied Piper. And why not? Since they pay no taxes, they have nothing to lose."
Governor Wendell Anderson. Gone, but not forgotten. He used his boyish good looks and love of hockey to hoodwink Minnesotans. Hoodwink? How is that? About what? Spending lots of dough to come up with the infamous Minnesota Miracle. The miracle which started our journey into becoming one of the highest taxed states in the union. The miracle which allocates 1/3 of our tax money into our failing government education system. But Wendell is no longer with us. So we have found an adequate replacement. That be Tim Walz.
Two interesting articles in the paper this morning. One on the front page, and the other in the metro section. The one on the front page addresses an issue most who are paying attention already knew about. How Minnesota, as a high SALT state, could get hammered this coming April at tax time. Duh! Those who like to deduct a bunch of items might end up paying more than they expected to pay. Bottom line - Minnesota is a target, because of our higher than normal taxes.
The other article addressed Tim Walz - our new "prairie populist". Tim has grand plans for our already high taxed state. He is actually trying to sell the old DFL snake oil. If we "invest" in everything, all that money will come back in spades. This state will end up being his version of the socialist Venezuela, which works.
Actually, Walz wants to pattern himself more after Wendell Anderson than Marx Dayton. Dayton? A lightweight. Mr. Tim will show us how to really ratchet up the spending curve. First off, showing deference to Governor Dayton - free Pre-K for all! That will boost up those sagging graduation rates in Minneapolis! Then - two years "free" college! Well - not really free. You and I will be paying for it. Free broadband everywhere! Yippee! Does that mean I get lower cable rates? Didn't think so. Plus there are more, including handouts for health insurance.
One might ask, where in the world is all this money coming from? Look in the mirror bucko. To paraphrase the joke about Paul Wellstone - "Walz is only taxing the rich - and guess what? You are rich!"
Here is what will really happen should we allow this progressive socialist to become Governor. The trickle of folks leaving Minnesota will become a flood. Hudson and Sioux Falls will need to apply for new zoning laws to accommodate all the fleeing ex patriots coming in from Minnesota. In other words - it will be the end of Minnesota as we know it. Lots and lots of bills, with very few bill payers left to take care of them.
Jeff Johnson continues to be the only candidate who has real solutions to real problems. He is the only candidate who can fix Minnesota from the mess that Mark Dayton made. Jeff Johnson is the only candidate who will fight to get the immoral and unfair state tax removed from our Social Security. And Jeff Johnson is the only candidate who will "right size" our business and personal tax rates to make us competitive once again.
One final thing. Do you know who really likes Tim Walz, and believes all this crap he is promising? The folks who pay no income tax. No skin in the game. They like this Pied Piper. And why not? Since they pay no taxes, they have nothing to lose.
I cheerfully pay my 6% in taxes each year for the privilege of living half of each year in a state that votes true blue and treats its citizens with dignity and respect, whether they pay taxes or not.
ReplyDeleteGlad you feel that way David. Once the big money moves out of state, the 6% you pay will be a whole lot higher. But that is the way socialism works.
DeleteWell, I only pay taxes on 85% of my SS, could be worse!
DeleteIf all I had to pay was 6 percent I might be happy to.
ReplyDeleteme too
DeleteAny retired family paying over 7.05% MN Income Tax is WAY above my pay grade and should be pleased they are fortunate enough to help the lesser.
ReplyDeleteBoth documented and undocumented immigrants are withdrawing from a federal nutrition program out of fear the UC's administration could prevent them from obtaining a green card because they received government benefits. I would like some of my taxes to go to the WIC program in MN. This fear is warranted and inhumane.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet if you put your money where your mouth is, an write out a check in the amount you deem necessary, your local WIC office will gladly accept it.
DeleteI believe I'll let you wealthy GOP taxpayers continue to foot the bill.
DeleteDemoncrats love to gorge themselves on other peoples money.
ReplyDeleteBird! Nice to see a few other of your followers weigh in! Adds to the discourse.
