A standup guy (or gal)?

"Some may disagree with me on this point, and that is okay. Let's at least get meaningful discussions going on how to fix this. Our kids and grandchildren deserve better - better than having a dementia laced, 100-year-old president."

What is happening to all our geriatric statesmen (or women) who are sticking around way, way too long? People like Feinstein, McConnel, Grasley and Biden? Let's first look at their ages - Feinstein is 90, McConnel is 81, Grasley is 88, and Biden is a young and spritely - 80. With the retirement age in the country being somewhere between 65 and 67, all of the above folks should have been retired for more than a decade by now. So, what gives? Do they need money? Or is it just the power?

Most have probably heard by now that Mitch had another "freeze up" in the middle of saying something. Even though he has been "cleared for duty" by the docs, there is something amiss here. If that were one of my parents, I would be beyond concerned. And Feinstein - she does not even know what day it is, or what in the world she is voting for or against. She has her handlers whispering into her ear on what she should do.

But the person who is getting the most attention for his mindless ramblings, is our President. Half the time, Biden appears to not know if it is Tuesday, Thursday, or whatever. And he seldom knows where he is, and why he is there. But that is okay - Slow Joe is only the leader of the free world. And to think, he wants to run for another four years. In what universe would this be okay with anybody? Dr. Jill? What say you?

We could Article 25 Joe Biden, but then we would have the village idiot as our President. Wait - so you mean there is actually someone worse than Biden? I am afraid so. So, what do we do now? Keep Biden with all his frailties or take a chance on "word salad" Harris. This is one heck of a pickle we are in right now.

I think it is time to revisit term limits and age limits. I know, the opponents of term limits always tell us the term limiting should be at the ballot box. In theory that should work - but in today's goofy and suspect election world, strange and inexplicable things can happen at the ballot box.

In today's world with today's medicine, I think 75 is a good time to call it quits if you are serving in government. Most are still lucid and fit at 75. I also think six terms in Congress or two terms in the Senate should be enough. I mean, look at Biden. He has parlayed all his years in Washington to learn how to play the game. How to become rich via corruption. Get people in and then out of Washington, before mold starts to grow on them.

Some may disagree with me on this point, and that is okay. Let's at least get meaningful discussions going on how to fix this. Our kids and grandchildren deserve better - better than having a dementia laced, 100-year-old president.

  1. My argument will always be that a "one size (or age) fits all" rule/law is foolish in the extreme. Many 80-year-olds have full control of their faculties AND a lot of useful experience and knowledge. Now if you want a cognitive test, like I take at the doctors all the time, I'm OK with that, I think. You can't test for corruption, stupidity, or evil, but at least it is a starting point. Honest elections should do the rest.
