Fear of Flying (Part 2)

I really don't want to sound like a fear monger or a sensationalist, but as of late, some very disturbing things have happened in our world of aviation. For example:
  • A kid was able to sneak on a plane going from MSP to Las Vegas. Through TSA, the gate, everything.
  • The Airline Pilots Association recently put out a release saying they believe the airlines are being probed by terrorists for the next attack.
  • Yesterday and today, "ice bombs" were found at LAX. They were found in areas that were suppose to be secure - very close to airplanes.
So what does all this mean? First off, terrorists may not be rocket scientists, but they are not stupid either. If they are in fact planning a follow up attack, could anyone think of a better time to do it? Our NSA is under scrutiny because of domestic surveillance, the government is partially shut down, and the TSA continues to be a mess. On top of all that, our national focus is out of focus. When they hit us on 9/11, they knew to expect a hard blow in return. Today, after seeing our confused foreign policy in the Middle East as well as the mess in Washington, it is hard to know what they would expect in return.

I am not a big believer in coincidences. I agree with the Airline Pilots Association that we might be getting probed right now. Finding numerous "ice bombs" in a secured area of LAX just adds to my suspicion.

I have thought for quite a while now the best and most affordable way to keep our people safe in the air is to adopt the Israeli method of profiling. I know, the Lefties will scream bloody murder, but so what. It works for Israel and it can work here. TSA is a joke - get rid of it. Replace it with true professionals who understand how to screen EVERYONE getting on a plane.

Flying is expensive and a pain compared how it use to be. Lets try to make it safer and not be an easy target for attack number 2.
