The (UN) Solution

"Okay, so it cost us a fortune to operate. But it is soooo worth it!"

Picture this scenario. A nation, led by a former KGB operative, invades a sovereign country and takes over. Naked aggression. A World War II type of land grab. Thank goodness we learned our lessons from World War II. We got rid of that feckless organization called The League of Nations (which was established to prevent major wars), and replaced it with a robust organization called The United Nations. We bought in to this idea so deeply, so completely, we offered not only to be the biggest contributor, but also host the organization in New York City.

In a perfect world, no, let me say that again. In a world which has The United Nations, along with it's iron clad charter, naked aggression by one country against another would be dealt with quickly. Well, sort of. What if the country being the aggressor is one the Security Council members? All it takes is one member of the Security Council to veto a resolution, and The United Nations becomes as feckless as The League of Nations.

It gets worse. By definition, any thug or bad guy who has been adjudicated to be so by The United Nations, can be hauled in front of the international court which is located at The HagueTo keep from having an Archduke Ferdinand moment, The United Nations and The Hague have got to live up to their charter. If they do not (and they have not), they are just a waste of space. Ask Crimea how this is working out for them.

The United Nations also showed their true colors with Saddam Hussein after the Gulf War. As he defied resolution after resolution, The United Nation should have gone into Iraq and hauled him in front of The Hague, but they did not. It fell on the shoulders of the United States to go into Iraq and take care of this aggressive thug. For that, the United States is still criticized by parts of the world as well as our own wacky Left.

So here we are. Many once strong countries now have "Mom Pants" leaders, allowing thugs to roam the land. The United Nations and The Hague are both as useless as a screen door on a submarine. If Hitler were alive today, he would be licking his chops. This is better than hitting the "easy button". With The United Nations being all carrot and no stick, the world is there for the taking. Don't give up total hope however - we can still write a nasty letter.
