Hey Minnesota! Here comes the weed!

"This is a bad bill. Ask your sheriff if you don't believe me. Most sheriffs I have heard comment on this bill were not fans. One more reason for someone to drive impaired."

Thanks to Curly Zach from Coon Rapids, we are about ready to take a long walk off a short peer. He is the sponsor of the Minnesota weed bill. Those who have been to Colorado as of late, knows a bit of how this legal weed works. The folks who say, "No problem man! Smoking a dobbie is no worse that having a beer!" Really? Wow! This new marijuana, which is over 25 times as powerful than the weed smoked back in the 60's, is just like having a Bud Lite (whoops - wrong brand!) compared to Everclear.

I don't hang out with folks who imbibe in weed anymore, so I can't speak from recent memories. But I do remember the old days, when talking to a stoner was like talking to an alien. Typical conversation: Me - I have to go to the bathroom. Stoner - Oh man! That is so rich! Seriously? (maniacal laughter follows). And that is probably the least dangerous or offensive thing about smoking weed.

But in a state where just about everything is illegal, why in the world would the socialists want something which may be as dangerous of smoking cigarettes legal? Which through heavy use could stint your IQ? Which could trigger some kind of a psychosis? And allowing people to have 2 pounds in your house? That is equal to 32 "lids" from the old days. How do I know a bit about the evil weed? One of my collateral duties in the Navy was Drug and Alcohol Control Officer.

This is a bad bill. Ask your sheriff if you don't believe me. Most sheriffs I have heard comment on this bill, are not fans. One more reason for someone to drive impaired. Mayo's study on the negative health benefits of moderate to heavy smoking of weed are inconclusive. What are the positive benefits? You get to act like an idiot in front of your friends and peers. You get to try some super strong weed, and tell your spouse you feel like "the top of your head is going to pop off". And what will the kids think, dad? Great example.

The real downside however, is the one which is still being studied. And it is risky. Is weed a gateway drug? Does it lead you down the path to something stronger? More dangerous? Maybe laced with fentanyl? One woman was on the news the other day, and swears her son committed suicide after being addicted to weed. In fact, he was so addicted, he moved to Denver so he could have easier access. And now, with all the problems that Minneapolis has, we can throw this one on the heap. Legal weed.

Thanks Zach. You have not done SD 35 proud. Not at all. This was a bonehead thing for you to do. It will hurt this state, I hope it costs you in the next election. But it probably won't. Why? We have morons voting these days. Your election proved it.
