A world off balance

"This has been a goofy year. A year fraught with uncertainty and danger. At times I wonder if we can make it through 2024. Other times I wonder if we can even make it to 2024. Why is that? A world off balance does not work well. Not well at all."    

Years ago, there was a movie out called, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World". I think about that movie from time to time. Do we live in a mad, mad, mad world today? Maybe, but I prefer to think of it as an "off balance" world. In other words, our world is not in harmony. How so? Let me list a few items...

Donald Trump - A businessman turned President. A man of courage with an unconventional style. Most of us by now have seen the difference between how the country looked under Trump and now under Biden. Trump wins hands down. BUT - the "deep state" hates this man. He is under countless indictments. He is spending a lot of time in court(s). He is leading his Republican rivals by 50 points and Biden by a dozen. He should be our next president. How is this going to work at election time? Unknown.

Speaker of the House - What the what is going on here? How can the Republicans act this dysfunctional on something so important? Was I disappointed in Kevin McCarthy? That we ended up with a CR after he promised he would not? Yes - but I still like Kevin. This would have been the time for the Freedom Caucus to give him a warning - not a pink slip. He should still be speaker. And Jim Jordan. One of my favorites. He has a very interesting back story. But Jim had 20 fellow Republicans vote against him on the first ballot. Steve Scalice? Another fine man. He put his health first and bowed out after the first ballot. Where are we right now? Nowhere. In a dangerous world, a world without balance.

Ukraine - This is turning out to be the endless war. Is there a "plus up" for us? Sure. Ukraine is a tough little place with tough people. Very pugnacious. They are ripping apart the Russan Army. Destroying their equipment and killing their soldiers. Of course, the Ukrainian Army is also losing lots of stuff and people. Plus, we are almost out of 155mm shells to support them. It is a slugfest. A real war of attrition. How will it end? Maybe a draw, maybe WW III. In a world off balance, anything can happen there. 

Israel - Wow! Never saw this one coming! Even though many of the lefties thought this was fake news what happened on October 7th, it was a new low for mankind. Just when you think mankind could not sink lower in depravity, we saw the kind of butchery Muslims did to Jews in their home state of Israel. Of course, the loons on the left see nothing wrong with what happened. It was Israels fault. They deserved it. And now with the errant Islamic missile hitting the hospital in Gaza, the left is anxious to blame Israel for that one also. Where will this end up? Depends on Iran and Hezbollah. Could be another broad Middle Eastern War or could even signal the end of days. This one has really put the world off balance.
