"Back to the broken House. I understand how Matt Gaetz felt with the CR. But Kevin McCarthy had a point earlier this week. If the government had been shut down, and our military was unfunded, what would we have done after the Israeli attack? That is no way to run a railroad."
Here is a nightmare scenario. Due to Slow Joe's mismanagement of our southern border, many of the "got aways" have been part of a terror cell from the Middle East. They have been trained and funded by Iran. They have taken months to pre-position themselves in different cities. The plan has been set. On a certain Sunday, they will hit some of the largest churches in the nation. They have automatic weapons and explosives. Their orders are to kill everyone in sight - men, women and children. Cut heads off, just like they did in Israel. Then, on a certain Sunday, the plan came to fruition. It was the worst day in our history. Worse than 9/11.
The Monday after the attack, the FBI has enough forensic evidence to prove that Iran was the puppet master behind the attack. In fact, we have so much evidence, the President wants to wage war on Iran. Finish them off, for their dastardly deeds. But - we have a problem. By our Constitution, only Congress can declare war. And Congress has a minor problem right now. No Speaker. And without a Speaker of the House, the House can't do much. Can't declare war.
Okay. There was no attack last Sunday. But there could have been. The House is now back in session, and it is time to kiss and make up. Bury the hatchet. Forgive and forget. Without a Speaker, the House is ineffective. Useless. The Speaker Pro Tempore has just a smidge of power, but not nearly enough. It is all up to the Republicans. They broke the House by ousting Kevin, now they need to fix it by electing a new Speaker.
Back to the broken House. I understand how Matt Gaetz felt with the CR. But Kevin McCarthy had a point earlier this week. If the government had been shut down, and our military was unfunded, what would we have done after the Israeli attack? That is no way to run a railroad. So, we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Shut the government down if the twelve appropriation bills are not signed into law, or limp along with CR(s). Both solutions are bad solutions.
The new Speaker must come up with a third way of doing business. Like, nothing else gets done, no time off is granted, until the twelve appropriation bills are finished, through the Senate, and signed into law. Period.
Mr. Speaker! Hello? Are you there? Can you hear me? As of right now, we have no Speaker. We are in nowhere vile. Not a good feeling. Especially when the bad guys are on the move.
