I have addressed this before. The least prepared person running for president on the red team, is light years ahead of Joe Biden. Right now, Biden is trailing three of the Republicans who are running. He is trailing Nicki Haley by 10 points. But if not Joe, then who? Who is on the blue bench who could step in if Biden steps down? That crowd is thin and weak. The Veep? I won't even go into detail on how inept she would be as president. Gavin Newsom? Do we really want the country to look and run like California? Whitmer? Hochul? Mayor Pete? The blue bench is not only weak, but also broken.
Two additional "kiss of death" events for Gavin Newsom have happened or are coming up. First, when the gov went to China for reasons unknown, he had a surprise visit with Chairman Xi. Seems the chairman has taken a liking to our slick haired California boy. Why? Maybe birds of a feather. Then, coming up shortly, Gavin has agreed to a debate with Ron DeSantis on the Sean Hannity Show. The Florida governor should chew up and spit out this west coast phony. That should be the end of any speculation of Gavin going after Biden's seat this time around.
Wait! What about Dean Phillips? Sorry Deano - your polling right now is about as bad as Phillips vodka at a liquor tasting contest. Bottom shelf booze and a bottom shelf campaign. The best thing for Dean to do now is drop out and go back into the "Problem Creator's Caucus".
How is Donald Trump doing right now? With all of his legal issues? The latest polling from the Economist shows Trump ahead by over 35 points. Many would say that is an insurmountable lead. But even if Trump did get snared in one of these legal issues (like Georgia), either Haley or DeSantis could beat any Democrat offered up.
How did the blue bench get so broken? So messed up? Woke and greenie crap. That has allowed Biden to plow the economy right into the ditch. For Democrats to get a decent bench back, they need to develop some decent Democrats. Like, Democrats of old. Joe Manchin Democrats. Joe Liberman Democrats. This current crop led by Joe Biden, is way, way out to lunch.
The election is less than a year away. Unless the Republicans really step in it, this should be a good one for the red team. If they don't get all tangled up in abortion issues, they should take the White House, the Senate, and keep the House. The path has been plowed red team - now try and not muck it up this time.
I see two problems and I keep hoping some brilliant pundit will offer solutions. The first is the abortion issue, and I have to believe the absolute prohibitionists are a small fraction, but that our platform should recognize, as my church has, "the occasional tragic conflict of life with life" and then subscribe to the [supposed] Democrat position of "safe, legal and rare" or the notion of "exceptions for life, health, rape, incest" to which about 65-75% of poll respondents support. OR, just say we would like something like Roe v. Wade, which allowed states to choose after 20 weeks, so 15 weeks, isn't much different. Getting anybody to say that without getting the screaming Mimi absolutists screaming, I don't know. See Nikki Haley.
ReplyDeleteThe other problem is the split in the Party between the Never-Trumpers and the Only-Trumpers. I don't know the size of either group, but I am betting that either is enough to hand the election to Joe Biden. I can't believe the GOP voters are that collectively stupid.
