"How will this end? Poorly for Hamas. Should Biden deep six Israel like he is capable of, it will go down as a bigger boner on his part than our retreat from Afghanistan. But if Israel has to go it alone, they will."
This weekend, I thought I saw a sign of the coming apocalypse. Seriously! Dean Phillips was on a news channel, and I actually agreed with him on a very important point. Not just a little agreement, but I was all in. Dean, the king of cheap booze, said we are doing this Israel/Hamas thing all wrong. We have American dead from the October 7th raid. We still have Americans being illegally held by terrorists in Gaza. Therefore, we should have boots on the ground. Because we have dead and imprisoned people like Israel does, this is our fight also.
I could scarcely believe what my ears were hearing. But the Deano was spot on correct. And now for a big complication. Now that we have had four days of hostage releases, the path forward is looking a bit murky. Why? And this was a shocker - Hamas is not the only group of bad guys which are holding hostages. And as such, Hamas has no clue as to where some of the hostages are. Therefore, exchanging status of the hostages as well as when they can be released - is up in the air.
Plus (and this one really gets me), Hamas wants some of the criminals released which have more significant rap sheets. Huh? Is it not enough that we are exchanging totally innocent hostages for convicted criminals? At a 3:1 ratio, criminals to innocents? No - Hamas wants some more hard-core terrorists released also. Give me a break.
Finally, it would not be a complete story about a mess in Gaza without talking about Uncle Joe. Mr. Biden it seems, has developed a bad case of round heels and weak knees. He keeps dropping hints that he likes this pause. He would like it to continue. He wants Gaza to be totally refilled with provisions and fuel. Never mind that Gaza is nest of bad guys and criminals. Every day of "pause", lets Hamas get more and more healed.
As Rodney King would say, "Can't we all just get along?" Actually - no. One of the leaders of Hamas has already said that what happened on October 7th will happen again. And again. And again. I believe him. So do the Israelis. This cancer needs to be rooted out and exterminated. Totally. When this "pause" is over, the IDF war machine will head south in Gaza. Will there be collateral damage? Sure, will be. But that is on Hamas. They are the arsonists which lit the match.
How will this end? Poorly for Hamas. Should Biden deep six Israel like he is capable of, it will go down as a bigger boner on his part than our retreat from Afghanistan. But if Israel has to go it alone, they will. Our relationship with Israel will remain sketchy until we get a normal president again. One who is not a spineless invertebrate. Pray that Israel can hold on that much longer.
