Tax the rich! Eat the rich!

"We need a fixer with brains to get us back on track. If you are thinking Donald Trump, he is the right choice for 2024. In 2028 - we need a younger version of Trump. But please - no more Democrats. We really can't afford them." 

Yesterday, "Scranton Joe" was on the campaign trail spreading his guff once again. Now he is really after the rich. You see, in Joe's dementia laden mind, our financial problems in this country are due not to his policies - they are just fine, thank you. It is the fault of two groups of people. First - wealthy tax cheats. Second, (and this is a big one) - people who don't pay their "fair share" of taxes. In mean, in Joe's ancient brain, if only the rich would step up a bit, we would no longer have a national debt - we would have trillions in surplus.

Here is a stubborn fact. Yes, we do have some super rich folks in this country. Not many, but some. One percent of all taxpayers made about one fifth of all income. Ah, now that is the group we need to go after! But hold the phone. This very small group of super rich people paid almost 40% of all federal income tax. In 2022, four out of ten people paid zero federal income tax. That is right - 40% of Americans are "free riders", and 1% are pulling the heaviest load. 

Wait - that is not the story that Joe Biden is telling. He is saying Donald Trump, and his Mar a Lago billionaire friends are the "free riders". The hard-working folk from Scranton, PA are pulling the load. This is more than a canard - it is an out and out lie. More Biden BS.

Other Democrats have pointed out that maybe we need to get rid of the capital gains tax. Just tax investment gains as ordinary income. Okay, we can do that. But then you toss most investments out the window. People won't want to or need to invest without some tax advantage. Without investments, America becomes a follower in business, not a leader.

Another bizarre idea which has been floated by the left is a wealth tax. Do an assessment on what someone is worth in assets, and then tax them on that amount. Now we are talking! We can make America a third world country faster than you can say Corn Pop! I have said this before - rich people don't have to invest here. Heck, they don't even have to live here. If we want to drive wealth out of this country, like New York drove wealth out of that state, just keep screwing with people's money. 

It is time for Joe Biden to go to Resting Acres Nursing Home and take a nice long nap. This guy has bats in his rafters. Whatever he once had (if anything), has leaked out of his ears.
