What in the world is Sam up to?

"One of these new AI manufacturing plants needs so much power, without a massive amount of power, it could dim every light in the state. Then why is this such an irony? EVs. There will not be enough power to supply one of these plants and EV cars at the same time."

Sam Altman. If you are not used to hearing his name, might be time to get used to it. Slowly but surely, what he is up to is starting to make it into the press. Maybe not the mainstream press, but the techno press. And what he is trying to do right now, is nothing short of unbelievable. By the way - Sam Altman is one of the shakers and movers in the world of AI. He is a big wheel - maybe the biggest wheel of all.

Go with me for a bit on this one. Sam Altman knows the world of AI as good as any human right now. He knows what the critical areas are, to really become an AI superpower. Speaking of super, the AI chips needed to succeed, need to be super. Like if you are an investor, you know all about Nvidia. The third largest company around, getting ready to move into the second largest. Why? They make AI chips and cannot produce them fast enough.

For Sam Altman, message received. Sam knows we need to develop more AI chip manufactuing plants, and we need them soon. Altman feels we need about 7 trillion (no, this is not a typo) dollars to build the number of AI chip manufacturers to fill the need. Sam is talking to every high-tech company and investors with deep pockets to try and garner even a fraction of what is needed.

Here is the irony, and it is a rich irony. Sam has an artist rendition of what a new AI plant would look like. Huge. And in the background, you can see the cooling stacks associated with a nuclear plant. A nuclear plant? What for? One of these new AI manufacturing plants needs so much power, without a massive amount of power, it could dim every light in the state. It will need a small nuke close by. Then why is this such an irony? EVs. There will not be enough power to supply one of these new AI manufacturing plants and EV cars at the same time.

Whoa! Hold on! If we really need more AI chips like yesterday, do you know how much time it takes to get through the legal wickets to get even a small nuke plant built? And by the way - until (or if) we need get at least one plant built, we will need every drop of oil or lump of coal to supply our growing energy needs. How is that going to work Mr. Biden? You killer of our fossil fuel industry. Our paucity of needed energy will be you legacy.
