Ducks in a shooting gallery

"If you have no means of protecting yourself, your only other option is to plead for mercy. And we have seen in the past how well that works..."

Sometimes I am a bit slow on the uptake. It takes me a while to understand the game. However, I think I am finally starting to get it. And it took this unfortunate incident in California to be a catalyst for my learning. My "ah-ha" moment - we are becoming nothing more than ducks in a shooting gallery.

The people on the Left have an interesting take on this whole terrorism issue. Somehow, it is our fault. We deserve our fate. PLUS, if we would just disarm, the terrorists might not be mad at us anymore. In fact, it is because of the NRA and our "lax" gun laws that the bad guys can amass such huge stockpiles of weapons. If the entire nation was a "gun free zone" nobody would ever get shot again. Ever.

And how serious are the gun grabbers? Today, the New York Times published an op/ed on the front page of the newspaper. How rare is that? It has not been done since 1920. And did it address our terror threat which is now on our shores? Nope. Gun control. We all need to disarm. Give up our guns. In fact, I bet after we are all disarmed, the Times will then want our police to be like Bobbies in the UK. In other words, just carry billy clubs.

Here is the bottom line. When dealing with people who want us dead at all costs, the method of our death becomes irrelevant. If they could not get guns, they would use knives or explosives. Or chemical agents. Or if they could get their hands on them, dirty bombs or nerve agents. Or maybe just beat us to death. And our government expects us just to "take it". If we are in the wrong place at the wrong time, that is tough toenails. Having no way to protect ourselves, we will just be ducks in a shooting gallery.

Our newly minted Attorney General (who is nothing more than a female version of our last Attorney General) is very concerned about this latest terror attack. In particular, if there is going to be a backlash against Muslims in this country. And her organization is ready to prosecute with the full force of the law. Not a word about the Islamists. Only us. If we react or overreact. Good flipping grief.

There is a reason why our Forefathers put the words "shall not be infringed" in our Second Amendment. I believe they could see a day coming when an overreaching government would try and make us subjects instead of citizens. And that starts with disarming the people.

We have a right, a basic human right of self-defense. We have a right to feel safe in our homes. We have a right to have secure borders. And we have a Constitutional right to bear arms. Period.

As for me and mine, we don't like this idea of being ducks in a shooting gallery. In this house, when threatened with deadly force, we shoot back.
