War is coming

"My fear is that in 2023, something is going to happen. Will it be the start to a major, widespread war? Maybe. Or it might just be an event, which will put us on the precipice of a broader war. Don't think so? Then maybe someone can show me where the olive branches and doves are. I sure can't see them." 

This past week, while watching the world news, it hit me like a brick. War is coming. Some might say that war is already here. Seen Ukraine lately? No, I am talking about a much broader war. Maybe a world war. Maybe a world war fought without nukes. Or, maybe a world war with nukes. But when you look at how everyone is arming to the teeth right now, and there is no backing down anywhere, war might be the only viable conclusion.

In Ukraine, NATO has become much more embolden on the types of arms supplied to Ukraine. The United States is actively training Ukrainian soldiers on our Patriot system. That will be a game changer with some of the treacherous aerial bombing that Russia has been doing to Ukraine. We are also going to be supplying Bradley fighting vehicles. And Poland will be supplying Ukraine with Leopard II tanks. And the British are going to be supplying Challenger II tanks. All of these NATO additions have further infuriated the Russians. Does this sound like a war which is winding down?

In the western Pacific, things don't look any more tranquil. China is getting much more aggressive in its war gaming close to Taiwan. The PM of Japan was just in Washington for defense talks. Guess what? Japan is also arming itself to the teeth. Japan needs our help. They need more of our stuff. Japan, like other allies in the region, can hear the beating of the war drums coming from China. 

Our own war gaming has shown that should China invade Taiwan, and we come to Taiwan's aid, we could lose two aircraft carriers in the first couple weeks of war. That is an unacceptable loss. But facts are what the facts are. While we have been screwing around with making our military PC, and looking for white supremists within the ranks, as well as teaching better pronouns, the Chinese have been going to town. China's focus is war, ours is woke.
