All life means all life

"I think as a society, we could progress and heal quite a bit, if we could only agree on one simple tenant. All life, means all life. And all life is sacred. (And hold on for this one) - All life is a gift from God."

In the past month, we have resurrected the heated debate on abortion. All because of a leaked SCOTUS memo. Many of the old and tired arguments about abortion, have been raised from the left. "It is just a bunch of cells! It is not life until it is born!" Or, "How can you say you are pro life, when you advocate for the death penalty!" The second one is one of my favorite ones for a couple of reasons. First off, killing the unborn is killing the most innocent among us. Plain fact. Dying on death row is not for the innocent. Second, I have never said I am pro capital punishment. A far more severe punishment in my opinion, is locking someone up in maximum security for the rest of his or her days. 23 hours a day in a small cell, with only one hour out to exercise or shower. Day after day, week after week, year after year. That would be hell on Earth.

Once again this week, we had a mass shooting perpetrated by a very young, and disturbed teenager. 19 innocent 4th graders were murdered. Once again, the chattering class on the left were out clamoring for more controls on the NRA. More gun control. Even though we have a ton of gun laws (many of which are not obeyed). Plus - the NRA had NOTHING do do with this shooting. All the NRA does is protect the Second Amendment. Our own abortionist junior Senator was out wailing about how horrible this was, to take all these innocent lives. Excuse me Senator - as the former head of Planned Parenthood in MN, you have lost your privilege to talk about the loss of innocent lives.

I think as a society, we could progress and heal quite a bit, if we could only agree on one simple tenant. All life, means all life. And all life is sacred. (And hold on for this one) - All life is a gift from God. People who are truly pro-Life don't like the unborn being killed. We don't like young black people being killed by cops, white people, or (mostly) other young black people. We don't like the slaughter of innocents, in war, or in a school room. All life is all life. There is NEVER an excuse to take another's life, UNLESS - it is for self defense or to save another innocent.

We, as a society, need to do better as a people. We need to come to a place where abortion is looked upon as a moral issue, and not a legal one. Where the thought of killing an unborn is abhorrent. We need to find every single death in the inner city due to gangs, drugs, or both - is unacceptable. We need to fortify our schools, so when that one in a million nut job comes in with a weapon, he or she can be stopped before inflicting harm on innocent children.

We are reminded of the words from Shakespeare's play Hamlet:

What a piece of work is man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, in form and moving, how express and admirable...

Some who don't remember those words, might recognize them from the 1970's musical Hair

In any event, mankind is a real piece of work. Made in the image of God, by God. No matter the age, the sex, the whatever - life is to be respected and protected. As the Southern Baptists say, "Can I get an amen on that?"
