Stealing our joy...

"...Covid and the War in Ukraine are caused by external factors, way outside of our control. What Biden has done to our country is all self inflicted. 100%."

This is shaping up to be a summer of high regrets. A summer devoid of much joy. If we just had high prices to deal with, and affordable gas, there might be a sliver of room for "work arounds". But - if JP Morgan is correct, our gas prices this summer are going to look like some Euro countries. Like by August, Morgan is saying gas could be $6.20/gal.

But it does not stop there. Other analysts are predicting $10/gal for diesel in parts of the US. $10/gal gas in California. If diesel is that high, we could tip from a recession to depression. The price of an airline ticket has shot up 18% in the past three months.

My wife was out to dinner with some gal pals last night, and the subject of wintering came up. All of them, who would like to venture south this winter, are having a heck of time finding ANYTHING. And what can be found, is charging an arm and a leg. By who cares? How can anyone afford to get there, when gas is over $6/gal?

Yesterday, I was ruminating about this year, 2022. Okay Covid is sort of over, but now we have war, and (still) Biden. All three of those events - Covid, War in Ukraine, and Biden, have stolen our joy. But by far and away, the one factor which has stolen most of our joy - is Joe Biden. Why do I say that? Because Covid and the War in Ukraine are caused by external factors, way outside of our control. What Biden has done to our country is all self inflicted. 100%.

Right now, I am kind of hunkered down, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Seems like in the part year and a half, many shoes have dropped. Just when I think Biden could not do any more damage to our great country, he surprises us all (and not in a good way).

The school shooting from yesterday has put an additional pall on everything. I guess we could always join the disruptive gatherings in Minneapolis, honoring George Floyd, but who wants to? No joy in mudville today...
