You can dress him up, but you sure can't let him out unsupervised. Our President, which some folks voted for based solely on his acumen (or perceived acumen), stepped in it again on this South Korea, Japan trip. Even though this trip was not about China and Taiwan, a question during a presser was right on the bulls eye. "Mr. President, if China moves on Taiwan, what will the United States do?" Without batting an eye, Biden said, "Should that happen, we will protect Taiwan militarily." Whoa! What??
Did our Taiwan policy just change in the twinkling of an eye? No, not really. The White House is already doing clean up for the boss. This was like when Biden was in Poland, and the told the troops, "When you are in Ukraine...". Whoops! Another clean up needed from the White House.
Why does Biden keep doing these gaf moments? My opinion? Part is his dementia. The other part is play acting. Put on those aviator glasses, and all of a sudden, Biden is Top Gun. Even though he has never served, he is always saluting someone (non-military). In other words, he is a poser.
But it is not just Biden's gaf complex. It was reported this morning, that Biden's new defense authorization bill is woefully short on funding. It does not even cover Biden's new inflation. In fact, the Navy is really being hit hard. Retiring 20 some ships, and only replacing 6. Meanwhile, China is going to town on building their blue water Navy. It is estimated in five years, they will have twice our fleet. This is Jimmy Carter all over again - for so many reasons.
While I am on this rant, did you hear our State Department is going to re-open our embassy in Kyiv - post haste? Maybe early June. And whenever we have an embassy, we have Marines guarding it. So, despite the fact Biden promised we would not have armed forces in this war zone - we will. And what if this embassy gets targeted and bombed? And US civilians and/or Marines are killed? Are we then at war with Russia?
